Weekend Wrap Up

Here's our weekend with few words, b/c as always on Sunday night....I'm tired!!! And I really just want to go watch This Is Us from last Tuesday b/c I've been too busy (or tired) every night to watch it.

A quick note about last week before I recap the weekend...I survived my first night away from Carson. This was the smile he gave me just before I left. He smiles every single time someone talks to him.

Miles was quite a gentleman and put my suitcase in the car without me even asking. If I didn't know better, I'd say he was excited about me leaving. He used to like when I would go out of town, but lately he's been pretty attached to me.

Now onto our weekend. Carson rolled over for the first time today. Miles was so excited. He kept saying, "I am so proud of him!" Carson brings such joy to Miles. I could not have fathomed Miles' love for him.

Miles decided on Thursday night (during the night) that he wanted to be an author and an illustrator. He started on his first book at 5:45am on Friday morning.

We went to my mom's house over the weekend. She took some adorable selfies with the boys.

I bought some matching clothes for Miles and Carson.

That's not usually my thing, but I thought a little bit would be cute. I thought Miles would think it was fun and he did. These are for Christmas Eve. Not my favorite print, but definitely the best I could find in their sizes.

We got to celebrate Bo's 1st birthday.

Miles got to hang out with his friend, Thomas, at the party. They were buddies when we lived in Martin. Miles still misses his Martin friends.

We got to see our best friends, Rachel and Travis. It's been too long, b/c that's what happens when you have 3 kids under the age of two between you. One day life will not be so crazy.

That's our thrilling weekend. Actually it was thrilling for us b/c we got to spend it with Darrin for the first time in months. Long overdue for all four of us. Hope yours was good too!

Two For One

Miles wandered in our room around 5am this morning, which is very unusual. I could hear him coughing as he got closer. He's had croup a couple times and I knew as soon as I heard him that is what was wrong. Since Carson's 4 month well check was already scheduled for today, we decided to take them both in to see Dr. Amy. I typically wouldn't take Miles to the doctor on the first day, but I was sure it was croup.

It was Carson's turn first. He weighed 13lbs 2oz. and was 24" inches long.

In the last two months, he's grown 4"!

He got two shots. Poor guy was very unhappy for about 30 seconds and then he was his happy self again.

Dr. Amy hooked us up with 10 cans of formula. That is definitely a perk to being on soy formula. Since most babies are on regular formula, her stock from the sales rep builds up. What a blessing!

Miles was next. Despite the grin, he wasn't excited about being at the doctor. I will say, he handled it much better than usual. I'm sure the fact that all four of us were there helped the situation. She looked him over and said that it was definitely croup. He was the 6th case in two days. Apparently the quick change in temperature causes croup. He got a steroid pack and we were on our way.

Both boys should be back in school and daycare tomorrow. I am going out of town for my quarterly sales meeting. It will be my first night away from Carson. I'll miss all three of my boys, but I know they will be just fine without me. Meanwhile, I will be enjoying a solid night of sleep for the first time in several months.

Two Programs

Miles had his Veteran's Day program at school on Friday. I was off work but wasn't planning on going. The invitation said "For Veterans and their families." I took that to mean they didn't have room for everyone.

When I was helping him get ready for school that morning, he asked if I was going. When I told him no, he started to cry. He had been singing the songs around the house for weeks, but he never acted like it was a big deal if I was there. I text his teacher and she of course said it was fine for everyone to come. They did a great job and I was glad that I went. He was so happy to have me there.

Until it was time for me to leave...and then he got really upset. He always gets upset when whomever is visiting has to leave, but this day he was especially sad. He is finally getting to the age where it's uncool for your friends to see you cry, so he put his Veteran's Day picture in front of his face. I love the way the girl next to him is looking at him. I can't tell if it's sympathy or if she thinks he's crazy.

Tonight he had his first Little Dribblers' practice. Little Dribblers learn basketball skills, but they don't play games. They perform their skills routine at one middle school basketball game and one high school basketball game.

The elementary school has a separate basketball leave that does play games. He signed up to play, but he recently changed his mind when presented with the facts about practices and games. We were able to back out before they got started. Thankfully, I had enough foresight to see that he was not going to want to leave the house every Saturday morning to go play a basketball game. He never once complained about baseball. In fact, he got mad if a practice was cancelled or a game was rained out. Basketball is much different.

He's just not a basketball fan. As proven by tonight. He did not want to go at all. I think it was a combination of him being nervous and just wanting to stay home. He did a good job, but it was obvious that he could care less about it. He just went through the motions from start to finish.

In other news, this little guy is still really cute :)

Brotherly Love

Miles continues to amaze us with his love and affection towards Carson. He still craves attention sometimes, but it never presents itself as resentment towards Carson. I put Carson in the bouncy seat the other day so I could take a shower. I got out to see this. Mile had gotten him out so they could lay beside each other and watch TV.

Over the weekend, he made a fort, put Carson's activity mat inside, and then read books to him.

In the afternoons, he's started feeding Carson for me when we get home from work and school. This gives me time to get dinner ready. It is incredibly helpful. He does a really good job too. He feeds him and burps him. Carson is usually always good for him. He probably senses that Miles is never nervous or frustrated.

We moved Miles' booster seat right next to Carson. Miles LOVED sitting right next to him, but unfortunately, it was too hard to buckle his seat belt in the middle seat. We ended up moving it back. It's probably for the best b/c I don't like all those school germ on Carson before Miles has taken a shower. Miles can't keep his hands off of Carson.

More reading to Carson on a Saturday morning.

Carson already loves Miles too. He stares at him and give him big smiles.

I'm so thankful that being a big brother is all Miles thought it would be. Miles is very affectionate and loving by nature. He gets that from Darrin. It's really no surprise that he loves Carson just like he said he would.
