Less Words Wednesday

Maybe we are onto something. Carson was so content to sit in a regular chair next to Miles and eat his dinner tonight.

He ate his entire dinner.

Half way through he decided he wanted to sit in Miles' chair with him. Thankfully, Miles is still the best big brother that ever was and he didn't mind at all.

Happy little eater!

Weekend Wrap Up

Weekend Wrap Up on a Tuesday...better late than never, right? Miles' team was playing in Mississippi, so we asked Granny & Pa if they wanted to watch Carson and they were all in. We had to leave on Saturday morning in the opposite direction of their house, so Darrin took Carson to them on Friday afternoon. We have decided that Carson is much better in the car without me. He's still not perfect, but he's better.

As soon as Granny and Pa got him, they went straight to the park. I think he knew he was in for a fun weekend. I had to laugh at the difference in the first and second child. Anytime we would leave Miles for a weekend, we left a written schedule, snacks, plenty of clothes, almond milk, a pack & play, etc. This weekend, there was no written schedule, no snacks, and we forgot the almond milk. We knew better than to bother with the pack & play b/c grandchildren always sleep with Granny & Pa. And, I had to text them to say that we forgot to leave his jacket but they could buy one and we would pay them back :)

Miles attempted to spend the night with teammate on Friday night, but decided he missed us and wanted to come home around 10:30pm. I thought that might be the case, so it was no problem to go get him. We woke up Saturday morning, did a few things around the house, and then drove to Mississippi to play some baseball.

Miles learned a valuable lesson this weekend. The first hit of the first game came to him and he wasn't ready. He was paying attention, he just didn't expect the ball and therefore missed it. It ended up costing them. He went on to redeem himself with two catches, but I think he'll be ready from now on.

He's a good teammate. He's quick to congratulate or encourage. That makes us very happy.

They won one and lost one on Saturday. Unfortunately, Sunday's games were rained out.

He's usually a single kind of guy, but he got a legit double this weekend. He was proud.

Carson had his own fun on Saturday. Granny & Pa took him to see Aunt Crystal and Uncle Steve. It was a beautiful day spent outside. Carson was very happy about it. He loved their toys.

He loved riding on the golf cart with Granny and Aunt Crystal.

He also loved riding on the mower with Uncle Steve. How precious are his headphones?

Back in Mississippi, most of our team went home on Saturday night anticipating the rain, but we decided to stay. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings...

....and then called it a night. We missed the chubby bunny, as we call him, but it was a fun weekend for the three of us.

These three had a pretty fun weekend too. Carson did not want them to leave and cried for them all the way to the car. Thank you, Granny & Pa!

Weekend Wrap Up

Here are 8 pics from our weekend and beyond b/c I'm super tired and coherent thoughts would be a stretch. We've been burning the candle at both ends for a while now and I think it's catching up to us. Plus, the baby child is a smidge difficult :)

Donuts, and food in general, make him pretty happy. He's not quite as interested in food these days, but he knows what the good stuff is....sweets!

Carson managed to eat a whole meal while sitting in the same place, on his own. We've tried four different high chairs. Finally, Darrin said it's definitely not the high chair even though I would have tried for a 5th. It's so hard for me to believe b/c Miles loved his high chair so much. I think every blog post from 2010 to 2012 had a high chair picture. Examples A, B, and C.

Carson woke up on the wrong side of the bed on Saturday and stayed that way all day. He was insufferable. He's either teething or getting sick. He definitely has teeth coming in, so hopefully that's all it is. We finally went outside late in the day and stayed outside for a couple hours. It wasn't a pretty day, but at least it wasn't cold. He ventured out in the mud and at this point, I could have cared less.

He didn't really know what to think, but it interested him for a good while.

His shirt says "Here Comes the Fun", which is true on most days, but definitely not on Saturday.

Miles was able to get some good snuggles one day last week. Carson rarely sits still. He sat with me forever and watched AFV. I knew Miles would love the opportunity to sit with him while Carson was being so loving, so we switched places.

Miles rediscovered his love for golf during the Masters. He's decided that he wants to win the Masters, so he's been practicing. His clubs are just a little small. So, he went into our shop, went upstairs, found my clubs, and hauled them out to the front yard. He's been hitting them SO far with my clubs! In fact, we are going to have to find a driving range, b/c he almost hit one across the road.

This was Carson's way of telling me that he wanted to ride on the 4wheeler. There's not much the boy likes more than riding on the 4wheeler. When I finally gave in, it wouldn't start. He handled it surprisingly well. I made good on my promise the next day when I knew Darrin had fixed it.

I'm literally falling asleep while I'm typing. Forgive me if there are even more typos than usual. Good night!

Sick Baby

This poor baby is sick. He was perfectly fine when he went to bed and didn't make a peep all night. When we woke him up at 7:15 this morning, he rolled over and his cheeks were bright red. I leaned down to touch his head and he was burning up. His fever was 102.2.

He walked in his room and pointed to his crib at 9am. I laid him down and went back to get him up at 2:30pm b/c we had to go get Miles from school. Both my boys are good sleepers and long nappers, but this has to be a record. It was just a little over 5.5 hours. He still wasn't ready to get up. His fever was back up so I gave him some Motrin. When we got home from getting Miles, we played outside for a little while. I think sunshine is always good. He lives to be outside.

Besides the fever and chills, he doesn't have any symptoms except for grabbing himself and whining a little. I'm wondering if it's a UTI. Neither of my boys have ever had one, but that would explain the fever. Darrin is staying home with him tomorrow, so he'll take him to the doctor and see what's going on.

I would never wish my kids to be sick, but I needed this day off even though I was off all last week. For some reason, I have been so tired. It's been tough to get back in the groove at work. I literally slept on the couch all day. I didn't even turn on the TV. I think we both needed the sleep we got. Hopefully Carson wakes up feeling much better.

Carson's First Haircut

Carson has been looking a little shaggy for a couple weeks now. His hair is still growing in, so it's long in some places, but short in others. Daycare posted this picture on FB and I was like oh my. No matter how cute I made it look in the morning, it always ended up looking like a hot mess by the end of the day.

I wasn't sure what to do with it. I didn't want to cut off the curls, but I also didn't want it to look like a mullet. I finally decided that if I told the hair stylist what I wanted that she would know what to do.

Unlike Miles who must be prepared in advance for anything we do, I thought Carson would do better if he was blindsided. We put him in the chair and he sat perfectly still the whole time. I think he was trying to figure out what was going on. She said he was the best baby haircut she had ever done.

She was so fast. She did a great job and she was done before he knew what hit him.

She left the perfect amount of curls in the back. I was afraid they would be gone, but they actually got a curlier with a little trim. If I would have known how cute it would be, I would have done it a couple months ago.

Miles has been growing his hair out. Since he was around four, Miles has had short hair. He had a bad habit of twirling his hair and would actually twirl it so tightly that he would pull it out. Cutting it fixed the problem. He's still growing it out, but he needed a trim. He wants to be able to flip it to the side.

I think both of them look so handsome with their new cuts. Carson was very proud of his new look! This might be my favorite picture of the two of them to date.

Happy Easter!

We celebrated Easter with a church service on Saturday night. It was a beautiful day!

We were running a little behind and Carson was all over the place, so I couldn't take the time to position them better with the sun and shadows. Their smiles were on point though.

I was finally able to capture Carson's surprised face. We see this a lot. Birds always get this reaction :)

Our church leaders said that they needed some regulars to come on Saturday night to help make room for visitors on Sunday. Since we were traveling two hours to Crystal's house on Sunday, it made sense for us anyway.

This was right before we jumped in the car. I was hanging onto Carson by a thread and Miles looks like he pledging allegiance. Best we could do.

Marmee was here for a few days last week, so she gave them baskets a little early. Both got books, candy, and a few other fun things.

Carson had his first Peep and he was hooked. What's not to love? He loved all the candy.

We gave the boys Easter baskets this morning. I took pictures with my phone, but they disappeared while uploading. I have no idea where they went. They got matching Muck boots. Miles also got a 13 Story Treehouse book set, and some candy. Carson got a lovey, glow sticks and candy. Their new boots came in handy while hunting Easter eggs in the rain this afternoon. The teenage cousins already had half of the eggs out when it started raining, so they continued. This was definitely a job for dad...way to cold for me. I took pictures from inside.

If you are friends with me on FB, you saw our car saga. This poor child in the car. He despises anything that restrains him...the car seat, high chair, stroller, etc. He cried for two hours on the way there and literally feel asleep with three minutes left to drive. Miles had a headache and Darrin & I were out of our minds. We tried EVERYTHING you could think of to no avail.

He fell asleep within minutes of getting in the car on the way home, but then woke up in less than an hour screaming again. We finally gave in and turned on AFV on Darrin's phone and he was fine. We would do this all the time, but it eats up our data. We are going to have to find a way to download it before our next trip....that is, if we ever take him anywhere again :)

The four of us have been off of work, school, and daycare for the last week. Back to reality tomorrow. No one is looking forward to it. It's been a restful, go with the flow kind of week. Much needed and very much enjoyed.
