Weekend Wrap Up & Halloween

Darrin was able to go watch some UU volleyball on senior night. Darrin recruited these great girls and they have been so important to Union. He was happy to watch them get a win.

I stayed home and watched Union on my computer and baseball on TV. After a long week at work, there's not much better than resting at home.

Saturday was a big day at our house...Carson learned to ride his bike!

He's been asking Darrin to take his training wheels off for a couple weeks. I knew he would pick it up quickly and he did! He got it right away. He fell a few times in the grass and has some little scratches, but he said, "I LOVE this!"

Stephanie had to go to the Apple store, so I went along for the ride. While we waited, we found ourselves in the middle of a photo editing class.

I took the whole class while Stephanie had her appointment....and managed to learn a few things. We got some shopping done and had a yummy lunch. We had plans to be home mid afternoon and rolled in around 5pm. That always seems to happen to us. A day well spent!

We worked a little of the Halloween puzzle and didn't get very far. It is hard and I am rethinking my purchase.

Carson actually wore his Halloween costume to school today. We usually have to change to plan B and go with a football jersey or a baseball uniform. They had truck or treat at school and he had a good time. George did not go with him to school.

Miles hurt his arm/wrist over the weekend while playing backyard football. It hurt all weekend, but we waited to take him to an ortho today. I knew a walk in clinic would just do an x-ray and then tell us to follow up with an ortho, so we cut out that step. He does not have a break, but the doctor wants to ensure it heals since there are growth plate concerns. He has a cast for two weeks and then maybe two more. He's missing a lot of basketball season, which is sad, but at least it's not baseball season.

Darrin and I took Carson trick or treating tonight.

He is a very efficient trick or treater. His bucket was completely full in less than 45 minutes and he wanted to go home.

He kept saying, "this is so fun".

He wasn't shy at all. We told him to say trick or treat and then thank you. Sometimes it came out "Thank you. Trick or treat" but he was a polite trick or treater. He finally said his legs hurt and his bucket was heavy, so we went home.

Sorting the candy is my favorite part.

Miles is too cool for us these days, so he went to a friend's house tonight. Another Halloween is in the books.

Less Words Wednesday

Today was crazy sock or crazy hair day. I thought mismatched socks would be as crazy as Carson would get.

He decided on crazy hair too! Neither of my boys are big joiners when it comes to dress up days. I'm always happy when they decide to put themselves out there a little.

Kindergarten picture...nailed it.

It reminds me of this picture from when he was younger.

I can't remember if I already posted these pictures or not, but I had to document the first time Carson wore eye black and Miles putting it on him.

More pictures from the Titans' game...

I'm not a mom that keeps drawings and school work, but this one stood out to me. He was supposed to draw an island and a neighborhood. I'll be that mom for a minute...clearly he's a genius.

Documenting (with Darrin's permission) that one time we had ground hornets and Darrin bought a bee suit because he was terrified of them. I kind of laughed at first, but when we drove down the hill (in his truck with the windows rolled up) and I saw them, there's no way I would have gone down there without a bee suit either. Bee suits aren't made for 6'4" men. It kind of cut him in half and I was literally doubled over laughing while trying to zip him up.

I was afraid he was going to have a heat stroke mowing the grass, in the bee suit, in August. He tried a few different things and finally they are gone!

Basketball & Other Random Things

It was Pink Out night at the middle school basketball game. I had to work the concession stand during the girl's game and it was really busy. I learned that kids spend a LOT of money on sugar and it's really nice to have exact change. It is not cool to buy a $1 item and pay with a $20. I thought it was actually really fun.

Miles is playing JV and they had a game before the girl's game. I can't say that I really look forward to basketball season, but then it's always more exciting than I remember.

The speed and physicality of the game changes a lot between JV & varsity. Hopefully, these boys will get some good playing time in during JV games this year and be ready for next year.

Miles loves baseball so much, but I think basketball is more fun than he remembers every year too.

They won against a close rival, so that's always fun.

A few random things. I've been painting my own nails lately. This top coat makes them look like gel and last almost a week.

Darrin said we needed a puzzle to work on. I ordered this Halloween puzzle, but I'm not sure anyone is into it. We might still be putting it together at Christmas.

Typical teenager look. We were just happy that he was with us in the living room.

Tacos in a bowl for dinner. It was supposed to be walking tacos, but it seemed easier to dump everything in a bowl.

I am in an adult leadership class for our county. We got to go to the top of the tallest structure in our county. It is a Tyson plant that makes all the chicken feed for local chicken barns. It was WAY up there.

Weekend Wrap Up

The weekend started with Carson's fieldtrip at a pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful day for a field trip.

He didn't have to stay with his class, so we walked around together and floated between friends. There were a lot of moms there, so I got to talk to several friends that I don't get to see often.

It's always a fun time when Tucker is around!

Friday morning, Miles called us from school to tell us that he made the baseball team. He did not make the team as a sixth grader, which was very disappointing for him and hard to watch for us. It proved to be a great motivator for him over the last year. He put in the work and we were happy to celebrate him. Since Carson and I had time after the field trip, we did a little decorating before Miles got home.

Carson was in charge of the confetti cannon, but Darrin had to step in because it was too hard. Miles was nice enough to play along.

Carson did not really understand the moment, but he loves to celebrate anything.

Marmee took Miles out to eat on Saturday, just the two of them. Miles is not a cheap date, but she's always happy to see him eat well.

Carson has been getting in our bed more lately. When he came to our bed in the middle of the night, I asked him to go to Miles' bed instead. It's not Miles' favorite thing, but every now and then we need a good night's sleep. Miles has a king size bed, so I think they can manage.

We went to the Titans' game today! This was the only picture with Carson in his jersey. His clothing demands are enough to drive you crazy. Hot, cold, big, small, itchy, tags, you name it. This one happened to pull on his neck. Go figure.

This was the first time for both boys to go to a game. Miles has wanted to go since he was little.

We had great seats and it was a beautiful day.

He got a Kevin Byard jersey in the gift shop and told me at least 5x times how much he loved it.

I was very nervous about Carson. I did not want him to ruin our experience, and honestly, he has to potential to do that. I was afraid he would get bored and whine the whole time about being hungry, hot, tired, bored, and on and on. We did two things to try to ensure a good day. First, we didn't let him drink anything but water. When he drinks anything but water, he has to go to the bathroom excessively. We did not want to be running back and forth. Second, we bought him a stuffed animal at the gift shop to play with during the game. He LOVES stuffed animals and they become his little friends. Both things helped and he was very good during the game! We really couldn't have asked for more from him all day.

We snacked a lot at the game, but didn't really eat, so we stopped on the way home for dinner.

We drove home looking at a beautiful sky.

The day went very smoothly and it was so much fun to be there and watch Miles love every minute of it. Back to the grind tomorrow!
