Less Words Wednesday

He pretty much has to be followed around every moment that he's awake...

Weekend Wrap Up

My weekend started on Friday with lots of snuggling since I was home with Carson all day. He still loves to watch America's Funniest Home Videos. It is the only show that holds his attention. He wants to watch it every moment he is awake. He points to the TV and does sign language for "more". Usually he wants to watch it while sitting in my lap, but just today he watched for a while without me. This shows some real promise for my 'to do' list.

Saturday morning, Miles had his last basketball game. I plan to blog about basketball in a separate post soon, but the short version is that he loved every minute of it.

Carson was introduced to Snap Chat by Miles' friend's sister. He was thoroughly entertained.

He was pretty excited to watch his brother play. I can't believe how much he does not look like Miles in this picture.

Miles' friend, Mason, came home with us to spend the night. They went straight outside to play before it started raining.

Miles and Mason are so nice to include Carson most of the time. Mason shows a lot of interest in Carson, which makes Miles happy.

They are always as close as possible while playing electronics. They played hard all day...legos, games, basketball, wrestling...but got more than their fair share of electronic time too.

Since it was 70 degrees in February, that meant the possibility of storms and tornadoes. While we were eating dinner, the weather sirens started going off. We loaded up and went to Stephanie's house. She has a really nice storm shelter/basement.

Since Darrin was out of town and we had Mason, it was important that we take the extra step to stay safe. I think the worst may have already hit at that point, but I didn't want to take any chances. The boys said it was fun and Carson was manageable, so I'll take that.

I took the boys to church. Our church has been meeting in a school for the last 2 years. Today was the last Sunday in the school. Next week, we move to our new church building. Such an exciting time.

It's almost March, which can only mean one thing. My child's pants are 3" too short, but it's too late in the season to buy anymore. Sorry, son.

Darrin made it home from his recruiting trip about an hour before small group tonight. We are glad to have him home. The boys were pretty good, especially since Miles was occupied with Mason (I planned that), but it's always easier with Darrin's help. Now that basketball is over, we start our first baseball tournament next weekend. I'm ready for some time with our baseball friends and warmer weather!

Sick...Again

I got a call from daycare this afternoon saying that I needed to come get Carson. Oh you know, pink eye again. NBD. This time it's in both eyes. Having a toddler in daycare is not for the faint of heart. I was working in an office that is an hour from daycare. I told his teacher that I would be there as quickly as possible since Darrin wasn't able to pick him up. I picked up Miles first. His school wasn't exactly on the way but going to get Carson first and then getting Miles would have been far out of the way. Miles was reading aloud on the way home and Carson was mimicking him.

I gave Carson a bath as soon as we got home to try to let the water run down his face and hopefully clean out his eyes. Wiping them out with a warm compress would have been very difficult. He's a stout little dude and doesn't care for me cleaning out his eyes. Eye drops aren't fun either, but I think we had two successful doses tonight.

After the bath, he ran around the house naked for a while. See what I mean by stout :) That booty though. Side note...for the last couple weeks, my left elbow has really been hurting. I thought I might have hurt it or stressed it at the gym. I just recently figured it out....it's from carrying Carson all the time. I always carry him on my left hip. He's pretty stocky. I think what really did it was holding him with my left arm and trying to feed him with my right causing me to really use my left arm. He's too heavy for that. He's going to have to deal with walking on his own and eating in his high chair so my elbow can get better. Right now, it really hurts and it's only getting worse.

He hasn't been sleeping as soundly lately. He doesn't seem to be hurting when he wakes up, but something is causing him to wake up. I was thinking it might be his teeth, but maybe his eyes have something to do with it too. he also had a low fever when we got home. It's such a guessing game with babies. I'm hopeful that he'll sleep well and his eyes will look better tomorrow from the medicine tonight.

Happy Valentine's Day

We've spent the last few nights getting ready for Valentine's Day. Miles signed his name to 20 ring pops and he was ready to go. Carson, on the other hand, took a little more work. His daycare class consists of 6 boys. Can you imagine the rowdiness in the years to come?? We bought five plastic dinosaurs at Dollar Tree and printed off a Valentine card to attach to them.

Then, it was time for his Valentine box. Thankfully, Miles' class decorated brown bags at school. I {heart} low maintenance teachers. I was really tempted to buy a gift bag for Carson's 'box'. It's funny to me the things that I thought I would like as a mom, I don't. And the things I worried would be a chore, really aren't. One of Carson's many nicknames is Boss Baby, so his box was quite appropriate. His teacher commented that it was perfect. I don't think she meant that as a compliment...

As I was leaving the house at 4:50am to go work out, I set out the boys' gifts.

When everyone finally woke up, it was time to open.

Carson got a tractor and gate for his Little People barn. He seemed happy about it.

Miles was ecstatic with his gift and thanked me at least five times before school.

Against my better judgment, he got two Beyblades and a Beyblade stadium. I thought the stadium might be quieter than spinning the Beyblades on the floor. I was wrong. All I can think is the inventor of Beyblades does not have children. Miles was overjoyed, so we'll go with that.

I got a custom Valentine card, which I took to work and put on my desk.

Darrin got a Union license plate for the front of his truck.

The boys played with their gifts for a little while before school.

Both were entertained by their gifts until Carson decided that he wanted Miles'.

Miles had to pry a Beyblade from Carson's chubby little fingers and that didn't go well. He ended up kicking and screaming on the floor.

Apparently his mood carried over to school. When Darrin picked him up, his teacher said that he was very difficult today. She said it seemed like he was doing everything that he knew he shouldn't. At one point, he ran under the stage in the gym and wouldn't come out.

I would say that it's a good thing he's cute, but I'm not sure that his teacher is falling for that.

Darrin picked the boys up from school and daycare and met me for dinner after work. After dinner, Miles and Darrin went to the Union basketball game and Carson and I came home to watch TV. I can't speak for the boys, but I was pretty happy with the arrangement.

I put Carson to bed 20 minutes ago and he's been a little restless. He's teething which might be causing some of his trouble at school too. Or, maybe he's just mischievous. Only time will tell. I think he might be asleep for the night. I sure hope so. I'm ready to chill and catch up on my DVR. Happy Valentine's Day!

Weekend Wrap Up

Just a quick weekend wrap up with some pics and a few words. Our days seem extra busy lately which doesn't leave much time for blogging. I'm trying to squeeze in a few posts, so I'll have some memories of our every day life.

Miles and his cousin, Rowan. They really do adore each other. Rowan asks for Miles all the time.

Miles and I went to see The Greatest Showman. We LOVED it.

This is always a good thing.

A package of dental floss is a small price to pay for being able to blow dry my hair.

And in this case, a few wipes are a small price to pay for being able to watch Miles play basketball. You see the trend here, right?

I feel sure that Carson is teething. It's made him extra needy lately. I wasn't sure that was possible, but alas it is.

We hung out with Darrin's family on Saturday night. We ate Mexican food and played Taboo. Lots of laughs and fun. I don't think I've ever seen Carson play so hard.

Miles is still loving basketball. He only has two more games. He's going to be so sad when he realizes that the season is already over.

Miles and his cousin, Jayci. Sweet smiles.

It poured like crazy most of the weekend, so the house got cleaned and all the laundry was done. It was a busy and productive weekend.
