Weekend Wrap Up

The weekend started with water day for Carson.

Carson is a talker, especially in the car. One question leads to another, on and on. I must say that it's really nice when he occupies himself and stays quiet for any length of time.

Every time we see a Fed Ex truck, he calls it the name of his daycare + truck. I told his teacher that he is telling on them for the amount of stuff they order if he thinks that it is a truck for his daycare :)

Saturday and Sunday, we had the last two days of baseball for this season.

We drove just under two hours to play in Kentucky. It was a HOT weekend.

They had some highs and lows, but ended up losing in the semi finals. Overall it was a good weekend of baseball and I think they had fun. I had fun watching them.

This was the last weekend of 11U baseball. Now, it's onto 12U. Miles has been playing with six of these kids since 7U.

Doing what he loves.

The umpire was the ringbearer in our wedding. He is Darrin's cousin's son. We always see him at the ballparks, but he's never called our game. It was fun to have him. Our game got heated between coaches and fans and he did a great job in dealing with it. Miles loved having him behind the plate. He didn't give Miles any breaks either!

Miles had quite a cheering section. We enjoyed spending time with so many family members at the game. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture, but Darrin drove straight back from Orlando, where he had been since Monday, to surprise the boys. He didn't tell me until he was two hours away. They were so happy to see him, as was I! Carson especially missed Darrin and he was ecstatic when he showed up. Earlier in the day, he had seen a tall, bald man and thought it was Darrin. He started jumping up & down saying "Daddy's here!". It about broke my heart for him. His daddy is a great dad though, and showed up for real.

Sadly, they lost about ten minutes after he showed up and he had to get right back in the car and drive home. That's how sports goes.

Miles and Carson were excited to see Aunt Crystal. We haven't seen her since Christmas, which is crazy for us. We used to see each other all the time when our kids were younger. Our lives have just gotten so busy. We sure do love her and Uncle Steve though!

The boys and I spent time drawing this weekend. That's always a favorite of mine. I told them that if they want me to play with them, that's a good way to suck me in.

Today officially began our staycation. Darrin had to take Carson to the doctor for an ear re-check. He got a good report. Miles and I went to Walmart to get some things for the week b/c I didn't plan ahead for a pick up order.

We all go home at the same time and raced around the house to get everything put away and head out to the pool to start our week at home.

Because we got the pool, we are not going away for vacation. I am committed to making this week a relaxing vacation at home. We stayed in the pool for almost 5 hours this afternoon. I am getting a massage this week, the boys are going to the movies with Darrin, we are going to have some friends over, we are going to mini golf, and my mom & I are planning a trip to Ikea. We are on vacation even if we are at home!!!

Less Words Wednesday

More baseball pics from last weekend. I know I post a lot of baseball pics, but I want Miles to have them. I think he'll cherish these memories. Darrin and I love them a lot too!

Ten Things on Tuesday

1) I love watching Miles catch. He's found a passion and comfort zone behind the plate.

2) These two are trouble together :) Carson loves Pa so much. Darrin tried to separate them at dinner, but Carson wouldn't have it.

3) Carson dressed up as Spiderman for character night at church. Stuff like this has never really been Miles' thing, but Carson owned it. He walked in with pride. His name was drawn for wearing a costume and he won a huge pack of Twix. We all helped him eat them.

4) Our pool is in! More to come on that in another post, but we are thrilled with it.

5) Miles went to a one day camp at our church. It was supposed to be from 7am to 7pm, but we had to pick him up at 3pm for a baseball tournament. He said it was the most fun he's ever had at church. They learned about joy and how happiness is temporary, but joy is forever b/c of Jesus.

6) Carson tucks George in every night. I had a bed partner a couple nights because Darrin was out of town.

7) We stayed at a hotel last weekend for baseball and Carson loved it. He couldn't wait for the baseball game to end, so we could go to the room. I asked the boys if they wanted ice cream on the way to the hotel and Carson, "No please, Miles, I don't want ice cream. I just want to go to the hotel." So, Miles got ice cream in the hotel lobby b/c he's a great big brother.

8) My flowers are growing nicely. I'm not much of a flower bed person b/c I do not like all the work, but I love taking care of my flowers.

9) We had a hot weekend of baseball, but enjoyed spending Father's Day with Darrin. He drove to Memphis after his volleyball camp in time to watch the championship game. After the game, Miles said that he was happy that Darrin came. Our kids are very well adjusted to both of us traveling and missing things. It was a good reminder how much it means to them when we are there, because they never really show disappointment.

10) Miles' team won the 11U AAA state tournament!

Unlike last year's state tournament, they played well all weekend, won the championship handily on Sunday, and there was no drama. It was fun to see the boy's dominate. Each boy played so well.
