Trunk or Treat

We had Trunk or Treat at church tonight.  It was a hit with Miles for sure.  We got there a little early so we hung out with Shawn while she got her trunk ready.

Then, Miles decided he needed to go potty.  We peeled off the layers at which point I realized his underwear was on inside out and backwards.  Even though it looked extremely uncomfortable, he seemed unfazed.

We ate and then it was time for some trick or treating & picture taking with friends.  First up, Miles and Gray...

I'm loving Miles' pose in this one with Ethan & Caleb...

This is our music minister & his family, Russ, Ashley, & Emma.  They had an 80's theme going on, complete with the music that was playing...

This is our pastor and his family, Kylan, Felecia, Elias, & Everett.  Miles asked all night why "brover" Kylan was old.  He was very concerned about it, and also wanted to know when he was going to be young again.

Why can't Trunk or Treat be every night???

Trick or Treating Downtown

Last year, we went trick or treating downtown for the first time.  The kids actually trick or treat at all the local businesses.  We had so much fun, so it was a must again this year.  We have the cutest downtown ever...

We walked with lots of different friends throughout the afternoon.  We kept getting ahead or behind.  Miles was speed trick or treating at first, but then at the end, he was really lagging.  We started with Josie, Marissa, and Ansley...

We hung with Ansley most of the afternoon.  She looked so precious...

Miles really loved getting candy from the firefighters...

So cute looking in the window at the Christmas stuff...

Then, we ran into our friend, Aiden...

...and then our superhero friends, Andrew & Thomas....

Miles' girlfriend, Avery Reece, looked so cute in her giraffe costume...

What a fun afternoon & we still have more Halloween tomorrow night.  By the way, Miles picked out his costume 100% by himself.  We went to a Halloween store.....he looked and looked...until he saw Green Lantern, and then it was over.  He had to have it.  Have a safe, fun night!

Weekend Wrap Up

Friday night, we had a home volleyball game.  The game was "Dig Pink" for breast cancer awareness and there was also a costume contest.  Miles didn't stay in his costume long enough to be judged or I feel certain he would have won :)

We played really well & won!  Miles was a handful...so much so, that I actually started texting our babysitter towards the end of the night to see if she was available during the game on Saturday.  It didn't work out with her, but we found some excellent help and I enjoyed the game on Saturday in peace!  I am so glad Miles didn't come b/c the game went 5 sets and was extremely stressful.  I would have been pulling my hair out trying to managing him. We won again on Saturday!  After the game, we chilled at home all night.  It was excellent.  I have not felt great this weekend, so bouts of laying around the house have been much needed.

After church this morning, we went out to lunch with some friends and then went to look at a house.  Some things in the works on the house front :)  More on that later in the week possibly.  After looking at the house, we had our Sunday afternoon nap time in the living room.  This is where Miles chose to sleep...

It must have been comfortable b/c he slept for several hours.  Darrin did as well.  I had too many house thoughts running through my mind to actually fall asleep.  The peace & quiet was good enough though.  After nap time, Miles played on the iPad while Darrin & I watched football & cooked dinner.

Then, a little dessert...

...and that's about all.  The weekend was busy at times, but also full of rest.  We have a week full of Halloween events, house stuff, and away volleyball games this week.  Bring it on!  Have a great one everybody!

A Growing Boy

Have I told you all how much this kid is eating?? Major growth spurt.  Last night, he kept getting out of bed saying he was hungry, so I was determined that was not going to happen again tonight.  He ate all but a few bites of his dinner....grilled chicken, broccoli, & salad....and then a sherbet cup for dessert.  As a snack before bed, he ate pears, cheese cubes, almonds, pretzels, and teddy grahams.  It was like a second dinner really.  We don't give him melatonin every night anymore, but tonight was a melatonin kind of night.  I wanted to make sure everyone gets a good night sleep, including me.

So this is what a fully belly and a melatonin gets you around 8:15pm, after a hard day at school...

Hungry Ducks

Miles & I met Carrie & Ansley at the park tonight after dinner.  I guess there weren't many people at the park today b/c by the time we got there, the ducks were very hungry.  They came marching over to us which always makes me nervous...

I was even more nervous b/c Carrie was hoarding all the bread.  I kept saying "give them the bread" over and over.

The kids were scared so they ran here for safety...

After the ducks were happy and we were far enough away from them to make us all happy, we reenacted how scared we were...

Then, the kids wouldn't get off the picnic table b/c the ducks would surely get them....

So, they took pictures for fun.  Ansley took one of me...

Miles took one of Carrie & Ansley...

Then, they actually played on the playground, but it was too dark for pictures.  It was a fun hour at the park with our friends.

Weekend Wrap Up

Darrin had away games this weekend, so Miles & I drove to my mom's house.  Volleyball didn't go so well so we won't talk about that.  I was on a mission to buy lots of clothes.  Usually when I need clothes & I have money to spend, I don't find anything.  Thankfully I found 9 shirts, 1 pair of shoes, 2 necklaces, and 2 pairs of earrings.  Yay!  My work friends won't have to see the same outfits over and over and over.  Of course, it takes time to try on and buy that much stuff, so.....we shopped....

....and shopped....

....and appeased Miles here and there with the animals at Rain Forest Cafe & the play area in the mall.  I must say, Miles handled the shopping trip better than he ever has. I actually had fun and I think my mom did too :)

After our shopping trip, my mom cooked a yummy dinner and the family came over.  We hung out with Miles' cousin, Sarah...

His Aunt Emily...

His Uncle Dave (my brother)...

And last but not least, his Marmee...

After a wild pillow fight...

...Miles slept over 11 hours.  It was wonderful for all parties.

Today, we went to church with my mom & then drove home.  I listened to the Titans' game almost the whole way, which made time pass quickly.  In other news....we have a contract on our house after 228 days on the market!  I will take 2-4 weeks to close and then we have 30 days to get out.  Hoping & praying something comes on the market between now & then.  The house that caused us to list ours is long gone and there are none that we even want to look at right now :(  If all else fails, we will rent until the perfect house comes along.  We want a four bedroom and there just aren't that many to choose from.  No worries though....something will come along.

So that's our exciting weekend.  My work week appears manageable and there are two home volleyball games this weekend.  Sounds like a good week to me!
