The End of 20 Things

I missed two nights b/c I fell asleep on the couch both nights before 9pm, but I'm back to finish up 20 Things!

16) Carson is the best medicine taker ever.

He asks for it everyday and then insists on doing it himself. He also asks for his vitamins multiple times a day. He always says, "I did not have my bitamins today". Both boys take a multivitamin, vitamin C, Elderberry, and a probiotic everyday. One of Miles' chores is to put the vitamins in their pill cases every week. I'm a big believer in vitamins after my experience with Lyme disease. They've been healthy for the most part this winter. Just an occasional sickness like last week, but nothing lasted long.

17) Every now and then they play well together. It's happening more and more and I'm not sure who is most excited about it. It makes Carson happy, but it also makes Miles really happy. Darrin and I are so relieved they aren't fighting, screaming, or telling on each other and actually play well together for five minutes.

18) Serious bed head on a Saturday morning. He had just woken up and even though I don't recall exactly, I'm certain he asked me for 30 minutes of electronic time with his first words of the day.

19) The nesting penguins that he got for Valentine's Day are still a big hit.

He plays with them all the time.

20) We took the changing table out of Carson's room and replaced it with a big boy dresser. The only baby boy thing left in his room is the monitor. I have plans to redo his bedroom this summer. When I do that, the monitor will come down and the recliner will go. We still read books many nights before bed and still check on him occasionally on monitor, mostly just to see if he is asleep at night or nap time. For now, I'm pleased with how his room looks.

20 Things Continued Again

Back with a quick post and 5 more things b/c I have to get up at 4:45 tomorrow morning for an early start to the work day. Boo!

11) Miles and Carson had joint doctor's appointments. Miles had strep and Carson had a red ear. I'm still not sure if it was really infected or just drainage.

Neither of them felt that bad and they never ran a fever. Carson is still complaining about his ear, so we might be visiting the ENT later this week. I can't believe how grown up he looks in this picture. I also can't believe that he will be four in just 4 months.

12) Baseball practice has started. Most of their practices have been indoors but they were able to get on the field twice b/c the weather has been so mild. I used to think he just liked hanging out with his friends and baseball was the means to do that, but I think his love of baseball might be growing. He seems very excited to get started this year.

13) At work, my team hosted an awards night to celebrate a successful year in 2019. It was such a fun night. This group works hard/plays hard and I am so thankful to get to be along for the ride.

They have big jobs, but they get it done together with many laughs. They are so good at what they do and that makes my job easier!

I've been in my role for three years and I'm so thankful that I've overcome my fear of public speaking. I still don't love it, but it doesn't keep me awake at night anymore. Literally thankful to the Lord for this.

14) Carson has been having a lot of fun at school. He still loves to go everyday and walks right in with a big smile.

They did a volcano experiment...

Dressed up as kings and queens for the ball...

Had a Valentine party where they exchanged treats....

Carson reused his box from last year b/c it was so cute (and already made :)

15) Miles' class had a little fun of their own. His teacher let them go outside and see the snow probably b/c she knew it would all be gone by the afternoon. Miles is the crazy one in short sleeves in the middle back. I sure hope we get one good snow before spring!

20 Things Continued

Back again with 5 more things...making my way to 20 total this week.

6) We celebrated Valentine's Day. As I've said many times, Darrin and I aren't traditional gift givers. Sometimes we celebrate holidays and sometimes we don't. It just depends on what we have going on, if there are things we want or need, and what other things we may have bought lately. I decided to buy Darrin some Apple earbuds, b/c I got a great deal. And, I knew he would love them, but never buy them for himself. I was right and he loves them so much. I bought myself a clutch purse from him :) It fits perfectly in my bigger purse and can transfer to my computer bag when needed. Let's face it, he never could have picked that out, so I just took care of it myself. It has turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Darrin got the boys donuts and we opened gifts before school. I think they are starting to look alike!

They each got a book and something fun. Miles got a pop socket for the "house" cell phone and Carson got some nesting penguins that have been a big hit.

7) We had two visits with my mom, one at our house and one at her house.

Darrin was recruiting one weekend, so the boys and I made a quick trip to celebrate Marmee's birthday.

The boys loved playing with all of her toys. The fact that they were at Marmee's house made them way more fun. Carson destroyed her house over and over all weekend, but I don't think she minded. He was like a little tornado.

We went out to dinner with my brother & his family, which included my great nephew, Will. It was a joy to see the boys together. Miles and Will acted very civilized at dinner, while Carson was a hot mess. At one point, I picked him up to take him to the bathroom and have a little chat. On the way to the bathroom, he looked at me with the most serious face and said, "What are you doing to me?"

8) I wore mismatched earrings to church one day. Unintentionally of course. That was fun, but I don't think anyone noticed. If they did they were kind enough to let me roll with it.

9) Darrin has been on several recruiting trips. We actually don't talk much when either of us travels b/c it seems to disrupt the boys, but we make an exception every now and then. I love how sweet and innocent they appeared for him when we Facetimed.

Everyone is always happy when dad comes home...all four of us actually.

10) Granny & Pa came to visit. We chilled at the house for a while and then they went with Darrin, Miles, and Carson to the movies. They had actually seen the same movie the night before, but thought it would be fun to watch the boys enjoy it. Definitely a grandparent thing to do!

Carson really liked the movie and Darrin said he did much better than Frozen II. However, I think there is still room for some improvement.

20 Things

I have lots to share since I've been MIA for almost a month. I've had computer issues, problems with transferring my pictures from my phone, and just overall busyness. I'm still having some issues with my pictures, but I think I can manage. So, I thought I'd share 20 things this week to try to catch up on what we've been doing. Here we go.
1) Miles wrapped up his first travel basketball season with the Hornets. He had a great time and was sad to see it end. He met some new teammates and improved as a team and individually. He did say that even though he didn't want basketball to end, he is ready for baseball.

Carson was so proud of his new Hornets shirt.

We had some unusually warm weather during basketball season. Carson loved going outside between games to run around. Overall, he was very cooperative during the games. It helps that they are much shorter than baseball and we only played two in one day.

2) I went out of town for work, which meant hanging with my work bestie, Angie. She and I have worked together almost 15 years. We have been through a lot since our company merged five years ago and we wouldn't have made it without the other.

Being out of town on a Monday night means watching the Bachelor on an iPad in my hotel room.

3) We had a few days of cold weather. We still had to get out and get some fresh air, so Carson rode his tricycle to the mailbox while I walked.

It must be cold if Carson is willingly wearing a coat. That never happens.

We even got some snow, but school was still in session and the snow was completely gone by the time we got home. The boys were so sad. I'm sure hoping we get a least one good snow before spring. It's starting to look doubtful though.

4) We went to a Union basketball game where Darrin's team was recognized for the success they had last season. They accomplished so much as a team as well as individually. As they read off the list of awards and accomplishments, it was incredible to hear.

After the game, we had to hang out for a while in Darrin's office b/c that's what they love to do. His office is way more fun than mine :)

I'll be back this week with more things that we've been up to!
