Peace Maker

The other day the three of us were riding down the road.  Darrin & I were having a friendly argument, so Miles interrupted us and said, "Guys........Guys!.....What we need to do...{pause for dramatic effect}....is....we all...{pause}....just need to get a doughnut".  Apparently doughnuts are what the world needs.

We gave Miles his birthday present tonight...a little over 2 months early.  We wanted him to be able to use it all summer.  Plus, he has no idea when his birthday is, so it really doesn't matter.  He loved it.  The water was FREEZING.  His lips were purple and he could hardly talk b/c he was shivering but he kept playing.

I didn't get many great pictures tonight, but he's having a few friends over tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get more then.

Happy, Happy Birthday

Darrin had to go out of town on Saturday, so Miles & I were left to spend the weekend together.  I always prefer that Darrin is here, but I do enjoy a little one on one time with Miles every now and then.

We had a laid back morning and then I conned him into a nap by letting him sleep on the floor.  He loved it.

We both had friends with birthday parties on Saturday.  His party was first.  We helped his friend, Aiden, celebrate his 3rd birthday.  Miles & the birthday boy...

To say that Miles loved this car would be the understatement of the year.  He wreaked havoc on the birthday party when we first got there b/c he would not share the car with anyone.

He let others ride with him occasionally, but that was all.  When I finally forced him to share, we ended going to my car for a few minutes to let him to throw a fit.  Then I hugged and loved him back to sanity and we rejoined the party.  They ended up having to put the car away :(

Miles and Avery.  I am in love with this picture...

We tried to get a picture of these three together and this was as good as it got...

After Aiden's party, it was time for my friend's party.  Carrie's husband threw a surprise 30th for her.  We didn't get there in time for the surprise, but I hear she was really surprised!

Miles and I both had fun hanging out with our friends...

As soon as we got there, Miles spotted this jewel...

Given the issue at the last party, he actually pointed to it and said, "Momma, Momma...can I ride it?"  The girls let him drive them around for a while...

He played in the water again at this party...

He wasn't happy about walking home until Ms. Carrie let him have some balloons...

Happy Birthday to Aiden & Carrie!

Family Date Night

We went to see Madagascar 3 tonight.  Miles seemed to like it.  It was very average.  I think Darrin and I are hard to please when it comes to kids' movies.  At one point, I was watching the movie and the next thing I know, Miles' booster seat falls in the floor (loudly) and he falls between two seats in front of us.  It was super embarrassing.  The people were really nice.  Miles started crying b/c he was so embarrassed.  Luckily he stopped so we didn't have to take him out.  When we asked him about it after the movie, he said, "I just wanted to dance."

I had my phone appointment with Dr. Bernui today.  The high points:
•  Immune function is measured by a CD57 test.  The normal range is 60-360, with an average healthy person between 150-200.  When I was tested in 2010, mine was 19.  Along the way, I've gotten up to 34.  Today, I was back down to 19.  The news was a little disappointing, but it mirrors how I've been feeling.
•  My thyroid tests all came back good, which I am very happy about.
•  I need to drink more water.  This is always the case, but I'm really going to make a better effort.
•  He gave me the option to switch over to antibiotics for the first time.  I really wanted to do that early on in my treatment, but today I declined.  I know the homeopathic vials work for me when I take them frequently.  I didn't want to start taking a combination of antibiotics that might come with random side effects.
•  Several months ago, he reduced the vials from every 3 days down to once a week.  Clearly my body was not ready for that.  So, back up to every 3 days.  It will probably make me feel worse before I feel better, but I'm ok with that b/c I know what to expect.  I am very confident that this will help more than anything.  I always feel better when I take the strongest vials, every 3 days.
•  He suggested that I might have a co-infection.  Obviously we are treating the Lyme, but there might be something else that we aren't treating.  We treated mono early on and it was very effective.  He believes the most likely co-infection is Bartonella, which is a bacteria that can be carried by ticks.  We may revisit this idea depending on how I do with the supplement changes.  Sometimes treatment is a guessing game.
•  He asked if I've been working out.  I was so proud to say yes, three days a week.  I didn't tell him that I only started 2 weeks ago :)  He asked how hard it was for me to work out.  Some days are ok but other days I have to go home and lie back down before I get ready for work.  He told me to back off a little...I don't need to completely drain my body.  Duh.  It sounded like a really obvious point as we were talking about it.  I hate when that happens.

I had gotten to a place where I only had appointments every 2 months, but given how I've been feeling, we are going to talk again the first week of July.  That's about all.  Sorry for all the detail, but I really like to have a record of this journey.  Also, I have had several people find me through this blog as they were searching things like....Dr. Bernui, CD57, Bartonella, homeopathic vials, etc.  I've made some new friends and hopefully been able to share some needed information with others.

Breakfast of Champions

This morning, Darrin and I were busy getting ready for work.  We were both in our bedroom when I heard the frig door open.  I peeked around the corner to find Miles fixing breakfast for himself.

He loves mini pancakes.  He insists on taking a bite out of every frozen pancake before warming them in the microwave.  Oh and he arranged the pancakes with all the bite marks pointing towards the middle.  OCD much?

While I think it's gross, it's not going to hurt him.  Therefore, it's not a battle worth fighting.

Several of you have checked on me today.  Thank you so much....I feel much better today.  I'm still looking forward to my doctor's appointment on Friday, but today was a better day than I've had lately.  Darrin is gone to watch a late movie with a friend of his, and Miles is fast asleep.  I think I'll crawl into bed and watch some HGTV.  Boot camp is going to come awfully early tomorrow.  Sleep tight!

Thankful

I was going to post the wedding pictures today but I have had a terrible Lyme day.  I've been taking homeopathic vials since December 28, 2010, but for some reason the one I took yesterday made me feel almost as badly as the very first one I ever took.  Maybe it's all the running around we've been doing lately...I'm not sure.  It's been a rough day.  I'm very happy to be home.  As I was doing a few things around the house trying to get to a place where I could crawl in bed for the rest of the night, I began thinking of all the things I'm thankful for. So, here goes.

Thank you, Lord:
For a husband that has never doubted or complained about how badly I feel.
For a comfortable house to relax in.
That I found a doctor to help me.
That I can afford the treatment I need.
For friends and family that pray for me and ask me how I'm doing.
That I have a capable husband that can do anything in my absence.
That Darrin is not out of town right now.
For the friend that referred me to my doctor.
For new Lyme friends that can sympathize with me.
That my job does not require physical labor.
That my diagnosis didn't take years, like some people.
That Darrin and Miles are healthy and don't need my care.
That I've gotten to a place where medicine actually makes me feel a little better.
That I have more good days than bad days.

And most importantly...the one thing that helps me get through this terrible disease more than any other...Thank you Lord that I have Lyme disease and not Miles.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

I have a phone appointment with my doctor on Friday.  Something has to give.  This is the worst stretch of feeling bad that I have had in a long time.  Prayers appreciated.
