Soybean Festival Parade
We went to the Soybean Festival parade tonight. Darrin had a game at Alabama A&M (which they won!) so Miles & I decided to meet our friends there. I wasn't sure if he would like it b/c there are a lot of characters & sirens. I am so glad we went b/c he LOVED it. He was very reserved about it and mostly just took it in, but he really loved it.
Just chillin' waiting for the parade to start...

Hangin' with Colt....
This picture cracks me up with their funny faces...

Aiden & Miles waiting to see what's next...
Waving at the tractors...
He contained his excitement all night...until the very end....when the horses passed by. He started jumping up and down saying "horses, horses" (he doesn't say on-knees anymore).
I never dreamed he would have as much fun as he did. The weather was absolutely perfect too. I'm so glad we went. Fun times.
Just chillin' waiting for the parade to start...

Slacking
My blogging has been slacking lately....and I feel really bad about it...but from the looks of my blog roll, I'm not the only one. So, my bloggy friends, pick it up a little please :)
I don't have any pictures b/c apparently my picture taking is also slacking. There are a couple miscellaneous things I would like to mention, mostly so I will have them for future memories.
First, quick update on Miles' toddler bed situation. He has done really well in his toddler bed. It hasn't been the big adjustment that I feared. The first week he did great, and then he realized he could get up whenever he wanted in the morning. He still has never gotten up at night. Around the second week, he started waking up earlier and earlier....from 6:30 to 6:15 to 5:40 and then 5:09 on a Saturday morning. That was the straw....it was time to break this trend. So, we decided that no matter what time he got up the next day, we would get up & start our day. We had a talk with him before bed and told him that he needed to stay in his bed and that he was not allowed to get in our bed. The next morning he got up early again, so begrudgingly we got up and made our bed. He was pointing saying he wanted to get in our bed. We explained that he wasn't allowed to and that it was time to get up. I told him he could go lay back in his bed, but he didn't want that. I felt like a really mean mom, but I strongly believe you have to establish these standards and then you slack every now & then later. Long story short, it took 2 days and he stopped getting up. Success.
Second, to carry on with the sleeping theme...Miles has asked to take a nap for two days in a row. Yesterday I couldn't believe my ears when the said "Wanna take a nap". I told him he needed to hug my mom and niece who were visiting and about to leave. He did and then walked back and crawled in his bed and slept for 3 hours. Today, he ate lunch after church & then stood up in his high chair and said "go to bed" and then he did for 3 hours. Clearly he takes after me....the one who crumbles without sleep.
I guess that's about all. What a snoozer, right? I'll try to get with it this week. Have a great Labor Day!

Playdate with Olivia & Ava
Saturday morning my mom, Darrin's mom and I took Miles, Olivia & Ava to the park. It was a beautiful day outside. They were excited to feed the ducks first.
The ducks can sometimes be overwhelming but they were very nice and Olivia and Miles loved feeding them.
Ava, on the other hand, did not want anything to do with the ducks. So, she sat with Granny.
Then it was time to play on the playground.
Check out this face...
It's a toss up as to who enjoyed this swing more.
Ava was mad b/c she said Olivia was pushing her into the bar....I didn't see anything...
This face says it all. It was a fun morning complete with donuts and Capri Suns. What more can a kid ask for?

It's Here
The time of year that we look forward to the most in our house is here.....volleyball season. I like to call myself the 2nd assistant coach b/c we talk so much volleyball around here. The team left for Mississippi State this morning for their first preseason tournament. Darrin & I thought it would be fun to take Miles to see the bus before I took him to daycare. We knew he would have a melt down when we left, and he did, but that it would be worth it, and it was.
Miles stayed in this position for awhile. We decided it was his version of planking.
Darrin looks happy....volleyball brings out the most intense side of him...usually he's completely stressed. I promise he is secretly ecstatic about leaving for the first tournament.
Darrin's dad drives the bus for the team a lot and he was driving on this trip. Miles was happy to see his Pa.
They won their first game again Southeast LA today 3-0! Off to a great start. Wishing good luck for the two games tomorrow. I love the coach!
