Terrible No Good Day

Isn't that how the saying goes? Miles had one of those days today.  It was a rough, rough day for the little guy.  When Darrin picked him up from school, the teacher told him that Miles' behavior was so bad that he isn't allowed to go to swimming lessons tomorrow.  That was the only punishment that she could think of that might get to him and even that didn't seem to faze him.  He was play fighting with another boy, not listening, and being disrespectful in general.  He's had bouts of bad behavior at school, but even his attitude after he got home was very out of character.

His punishment from us was that he couldn't play outside, which is his favorite thing to do.  That really didn't seem to bother him either.  We had to take some books back to the library b/c they were very late.  If they weren't so late, and Thursdays weren't the only day they stayed open until 8pm, we probably wouldn't have gone there either.  We returned nine books and checked out nine more.  You can check out ten, so I'm not sure why we always stop at nine.

We came home and read all nine.  I think some time hanging out together inside was probably good for him.  He's had a long week of swimming lessons and we've let him play outside later than usual.  It's so hard when it's still light outside and all the other neighbors are still going strong.  We just have to be better about making him come in at 7pm, which is our rule.  Clearly, he can't handle anything different.

After our book reading extravaganza, he took a bath where he got in trouble for not listening and lost his 'one show in the TV room' privilege for the night.  That was the most traumatic of all his punishments for the day.  Note taken.

He's fast asleep now.  He was so tired and I know a good, restful night sleep will probably work wonders. We said prayers before bed and asked God to help him make better choices tomorrow.  During our prayers I felt something in front of my face.  When I opened my eyes, he was waving his hand in front of me.  Very much in keeping with today's behavior.

All three of us are done for the day.  Completely checked out.  Tomorrow is a new day.
