Sick Again

Sunday night Miles started coughing, or actually barking like a seal. He seemed to feel fine...he just sounded terrible. When I picked him up from daycare yesterday, they said that he coughed a lot....even to the point that they had to turn the air conditioning on to try to calm him & help him stop coughing.

So, I called Dr. Bates' office this morning and was able to make a 10:30 appointment. It's one of those things that could be absolutely nothing and or it could be something. He was hoarse today and sounded like his lungs were full of junk.

We waited for Dr. Bates while exploring the room...


Turns out he has the Croup. I always thought the Croup was just a name for a really bad cough. Dr. Bates explained that it is a virus that causes the throat to swell. It has nothing to do with the lungs (Miles' sounded great), so the breathing treatments that we'd been doing were pointless, even though he really likes them...

He gave us 3 doses of a steroid to help reduce the swelling. There is nothing you can do for the cough since it is a virus. I'm so glad we went. I've gotten a lot better about determining when a doctor's visit is necessary and when we can wait it out. Miles stayed home for the rest of the day with Darrin. After a good nap, Darrin said he woke up very happy. We'll see what tomorrow holds....I think he'll be fine to go to daycare.

Lazy Sunday

Yesterday was my kind of Sunday. All three of us are early risers, so we usually get up & get ready for church, and then lounge around until it's time to get dressed. We laid around before church...

And we laid around after the evening service...



We didn't even take advantage of the pretty weather b/c I think we all needed some down time. We enjoyed watching the Masters...as Sunday afternoon golf is second only to football. It was a restful day....and much needed.

Diagnosis

We went to see Dr. Bates this morning. Turns out he has an ear infection in his right ear. He's been pretty good today....a little needy at times...but good considering he's sick. No fever all day, so he's going back to daycare tomorrow. He & I both caught up on our sleep. He took a 3+ hour nap and mine was almost as long. It was nice and apparently much needed.

Not much to this video but I laughed & laughed. The kid knows what he wants & what he doesn't want.

I thought he was on the mends. He was fine all day Sunday. He went to daycare on Monday. I even text his teacher after lunch to check on him. She said he was fine, no problems all day. Then out of nowhere he started running a 101.6 fever. So, Darrin picked him up yesterday, and I am home with him all day today. We are going to see Dr. Bates this morning. I'm puzzled by the off & on fever and the lack of other symptoms. Even if he woke up without a fever and appears fine, we are going to the doctor. I can't let this drag out any longer.

I Had a Feeling

Well...Miles slept through the night even though I thought he might be getting sick. He woke up fine...we had a good day. He just didn't seem like himself but no fever....until around 4pm. I held off on the Tylenol to see how high it would get. I wanted to see what we were dealing with since he has no other symptoms. I let him take a bath in our bath tub b/c I thought he would like that and we might avoid a melt down. It worked.

After the bath, he started feeling a lot worse...fever went up. He even had the chills. Poor guy does not feel good.

He & Daddy relaxed for a while...

I just gave him some Motrin and we put him to bed. Hopefully it's just a virus that will run it's course quickly and he will wake up feeling better. Off to watch Kentucky. Go Cats!

Bieber Fever & Sickly Fever

Miles' hair is looking a little Bieber-ish these days. I like it longer with curls and Darrin likes it shorter. Every time we get it cut, I regret it. It's usually wild & crazy but when it's clean & brushed, it is so cute.

I'm not sure what kind of night we are in for. Miles wasn't quite himself tonight, and he felt a little warm when I laid him in his crib. He went to bed at 7:15pm. I'm hoping he's just tired. They went outside at daycare and that always exhausts him. Darrin didn't feel great yesterday. He took some Airbourne and seems to be ok today.

As for me, I've felt pretty good today. I got a headache in the afternoon but that's typical. So far, I haven't had any Herz reactions. The doctor says most people experience them between vials 3-4, which would be next weekend. That wasn't the case for me last time, so maybe it won't be this time either. Here's hoping. TGIF.
