The day started with a 'take your kid to work' for a couple hours kind of day. His daycare had a major outbreak of a stomach virus (like 35+ kids, parents, and teachers). We decided to keep him home when the number was only up to 12 and then it got much worse. They ended up closing at noon. Thankfully, we have all been fine.
I had something that I really needed to get done in the office, so we went in for a little while. He was cooperative enough to let me finish what I needed to, but I don't think he would have given me much longer. We spent the rest of the day at home.
Miles went recruiting with Darrin to South Carolina. Miles loves to go with Darrin. A 9 hour car ride for a day in the gym does not sound fun to me, but they both love it.
Miles likes eating out, staying in hotels, and enjoying some chill time with Darrin.
This is the first time that he was able to see boys volleyball while they recruited. Darrin said he loved watching it. Miles said if we had boys volleyball here, he would want to play. It's not a thing around here, but we really wish it was! Darrin said he would love to coach him.
Marmee came up and stayed with us Friday night and all day on Saturday. The theme for her visits was games & puzzles! We introduced Carson to Sorry and he did really well!
He beat us fair and square in a game of Memory. I am terrible at that game. I think having kids has fried my brain.
Carson's puzzle skills are pretty amazing. If I help him with the outside of a puzzle, he can pretty much do the inside by himself. This was a 100 piece puzzle. He worked on it while I cooked. It was a productive set up for both of us.
He and Marmee worked on this one. While he's working on puzzles, he frequently says, "I great at this" :)
When we got to the end of this one, he said, "Can I please do the rest by myself?" And so he did.
After my mom left, we played a game of Sorry and then watched TV.
He played by himself for a couple hours and let me watch some TV. At 7:30pm, he said, "Mom, are you tired?" When I told him I was he said we could go to sleep. I laid down with him until he fell asleep and then I got back up and stayed up until 2:30am listening to an addictive audio book called "If I Never Met You" by Mhairi McFarlane. I realized I wasn't going to be able to put it down until I finished it, so I drank some caffeine and trudged on.
With everything at daycare, I decided to stay home from church. I really hated to, but I felt like it was the responsible thing to do. I loaded Carson up with extra vitamins, essential oils, and the diffuser with Breathe in it. Just trying to do anything we can to stay healthy. We are huge believers in vitamins and since all four of us have been taking them religiously, we rarely get sick. Darrin and I take a lot of different vitamins, but the boys take a multivitamin, vitamin C, D, Elderberry, and a probiotic.
I did a little bit of meal prep and planning for the week. I made mesquite chicken, cauliflower rice, and steamed broccoli for our lunches.
We love this marinade. It's a little spicy. We marinate it overnight in a ziplock bag. Then, I cooked it in the air fryer on 360 for 9 minutes on each side. It's actually better than the grill because it doesn't dry out. So much easier too.
I also did some laundry over the weekend. Carson thinks socks are disposable. Every time he comes inside, he take off his socks and shoes. Walk to the mailbox...take off socks and put them in the dirty clothes. Jump on the trampoline...take off socks and put them in the dirty clothes. Ride in the car to the store...take off socks and put them in the dirty clothes. Etc, etc. When I washed his clothes, there were 4 pairs of underwear and 17 pairs of socks!
Just a cold, January weekend around here, so not much to talk about especially with Covid. Busy week ahead around here! It's just before 9pm and everyone is in bed. I'm debating going to sleep or staying up for some me time. I'm pretty sure the me time is going to win out!
