Waking up isn't usually as hard as it once was, but it was hard on Friday for some reason. This is pretty much what I was thinking.
Friday night, Miles and I had a Pokémon battle. Now that I understand the rules a little better, I'm calling his bluff on making the rules up as he goes.
Saturday morning, Miles has his first basketball game. He was beyond excited.
The parents from both teams form a tunnel and the kids run out before each game. They had to make up a nickname for their introduction. Miles' was "Miles Money McClure". He said the tunnel was a little embarrassing. No surprise there.
His team is the Eagles. Miles got to the be the point guard. He loved it and did a pretty good job!
The highlight of his morning was stealing the ball and breaking away for a lay up. I think this play earned him defensive player of the game awarded by his coach. He got a star to add to his jersey. They earn stars each week for saying their Bible verse.
Carson was entertained by the game for the first half. Then, he dumped the marshmallows out of bag, threw his pacifier on the floor, and tore Darrin's popcorn bag causing it to spill all over the floor. So, in other words, he was a lot of fun. His new nickname is Wrecking Ball. It's appropriate.
Mason is on his team, so that is very fun for both of them. That is the whole reason we chose to play in this league verses the city league.
Miles ended up scoring 9 points and was ecstatic after the game. I think he loved how fast paced it is compared to baseball. It's early, but I think we might have a little baller on our hands.
After the game, we hung out at home. This is cute, but all I could think was G-E-R-M-S! I don't try to keep them from each other though. They're brothers and brothers are meant to be close.
We watched football. Go Titans!! Carson has a lot to learn about the importance of football in our house. For starters, you should face the TV when the game is on.
We managed to squeeze in a little cleaning on Saturday too. Carson likes to wipe things off.
Granny and Pa came down on Saturday night to watch the boys so we could go out.
Carson wasn't so sure about this plan.
We went with some friends to a local fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes. Our friend's daughter was diagnosed in October, so when the event came up we quickly agreed.
It was such a fun night. Most of it was MMA, but there was some boxing too. Most of the fights were pretty good especially for a charity event.
Every time I watch MMA, it takes me a while to warm up to it. We were watching through squinted eyes most of the night. After I got used to it, I found myself cheering for the fight to continue, b/c a lot of them were ended early by KO.
The guys all really liked it, but I think Darrin liked it the most.
It was so nice to get out of the house without kids! After the event, we went to Steak and Shake and didn't end up getting home until 1am. I was whipped at church this morning. Everyone but Miles took a nap this afternoon.
We wrapped up our weekend by hosting small group tonight. We took a break for the last couple of months, but both felt like it was time to get back to it. We enjoy having people in our home and feel it is our responsibility to do so. It was a good time with good discussion. Now, it's time to go to bed. This little blog post has taken an eternity b/c the pics kept messing up. Have a great week!
