Sandestin

Lots to blog about since we've gotten home.  First up...the first part of our vacation....which was to Sandestin.  When Darrin was asked to be in a wedding in New Orleans, I started trying to tie in a trip to the beach.  We didn't go to the beach last year and I've been longing to sink my toes in the sand.  We looked into several places and decided on Sandestin.  It was perfect.  We loved the area, the beach, the condo, the shopping & entertainment....everything was perfect.

We stayed at the Luau II.  To save money, we settled on a studio condo that was slightly off the beach.  The description said that it was a two minute walk.  The walk turned out to be no trouble at all and cut the price of the room in half.  It proved to be a very good decision.  The Luau also has 1, 2, and 3 bedroom condos, but we just didn't need it for the two of us.

One reason I picked the Luau II was the pool.

The pool was very nice but we only got in it one time for less than 5 minutes.  The beach was just too pretty.  Tropical storm Debbie left the day before we arrived.  The ocean was perfectly clear and the water was rough, which made it so fun to play in.  Even when the water was up to Darrin's shoulders, you could still see his feet.  Beautiful.

We only had two nights in Sandestin since we got a late start due to the funeral.  Instead of eating at the local trendy beach restaurants, we choose PF Changs the first night...

And The Melting Pot the second night....

After dinner on the second night, we walked around Baytowne Wharf.  If you've never been there, I highly recommend it if you are in the area.  It is so neat.  Tons of stuff for kids to do....zipline, a ropes course, carnival games....and just a cool place with restaurants and shopping.  We wish we would have gone there both nights to hang out.

It was a quick two days at the beach before it was time to drive 4.5 hours to New Orleans, but it was totally worth it.
