My mom and I took Miles to see Thomas the Train in Nashville today. Darrin was out of town, so I drove to her house last night after work and we woke up bright and early to go to Day Out With Thomas at 9am. We had talked about taking him but the only place that was possible this year was Nashville & the reviews online were awful. After talking to someone a couple weeks ago that had gone last year, we bought the tickets & made plans to go.
Basically the reviews were right on as far as adults go, but Miles liked it and that's all that matters. He didn't realize it was in a sketchy part of Nashville, that the train rode about 5 miles down the track going 2 mph & then reversed to get back to the starting place, or that the whole set up was definitely not worth the ticket price. With kid events like this, you are typically going to get a little ripped off so you just can't look at it that way. As I said, he enjoyed it so it was worth our time & money.
My mom dressed him up. At first I wasn't a fan, but I have to admit he looked adorable and there were plenty of other little boys dressed up too.

Precious...
We opted not to wait in the mile long line to have your picture professionally taken with Thomas, so this is the best we could get considering the people and boundaries...
Percy is one of his favorites...
One of the highlights of Miles' day, was riding this train with his Marmee.
He wasn't excited about only riding once, but quickly got over it when she promised him a balloon...
It's massive and he loves it. We had to put a towel over it in the back of the car to keep it from blocking my view on the drive home.
We drove back home tonight. He was so tired and happily went to bed when we got home. And now, I am going to do the same. I'm exhausted, but happy that we could do something fun with Miles. He's always worth the effort.
