Weekend Wrap Up

Friday started with flowers at work for Valentine's Day. They were so pretty! From now on when someone is driving extremely cautiously in front of me I'm just going to assume that they have flowers seat belted in the back seat. Always a challenge to get home with them!

Carson had two make up basketball games on Friday night. They went 1-1.

Saturday morning started with some Valentine gifts for Darrin & the boys.

One studies the new baseball cards and one eats the candy.

This picture sums up how different they really are. They might have some similarities because they are being raised in the same house, but that's pretty much where it ends :) One is very much a gray on black, serious 95% of the time kind of guy, while the other is full color with a stuffed animal hanging around his neck and always looking for some fun.

For the most part I have quit telling the boys when to do their laundry. They just do it when they decide they need to which means it's 2-3 loads at a time. It takes Carson forever to fold it all because he's still learning and he watches TV during the process.

Apparently part of his process is throwing all the things that have to be hung up on his closet floor and then he hangs it all up at the end. Neither of the boys does laundry how I prefer but I really try hard to allow them to figure out some of their own processes and not force mine on them. I was not given this opportunity and it's just something I want to do differently.

Darrin and I got pedicures on Valentine's Day. He hasn't had one since our honeymoon and let's just say it was time.

We had a late (for us) dinner. Miles fixed the steaks completely by himself and Darrin fixed the potatoes. All I had to do was cut up some veggies to eat while they were fixing the meal. Raw veggies while they are hungry and waiting on dinner ensures they will eat them every time. Our favorite dip right now is ranch dressing with season salt sprinkled on top of it. I just put the ranch on the cutting board with the veggies and it's all gone in minutes.

Today was the last basketball game. Carson's team went up in the last minute after being down the whole game. It was such an exciting win.

Darrin had a great time coaching basketball for his first time. He did a great job with them!

Carson has a friend over to spend the night since they are out of school tomorrow. Nachos on the counter was a big hit.

Today is my mom's birthday. It has been the saddest day for me since she died. We had a cake in her honor which I told the boys we would always do. As I sang in church this morning I remembered that she is spending her birthday singing in heaven. No better way to spend your birthday.
