The One Time

Carson came in our room at 5:30am to say his throat hurt. I made up my mind then that he was staying home from school and we were going to the doctor. We usually wait it out, but we are too busy and have too much to do to play around with sickness. Once again, he wanted to draw, color, and play games since he had my undivided attention.

While we were in the waiting room he started saying that his ear hurt....then his throat didn't hurt anymore....then his ear didn't hurt, but his throat did....I'm not sure he knew.

He is always brave at the doctor. But....he had his first flu test today. He was a perfect patient, but I felt awful for him. It really hurt him. She was very thorough. His eyes were watering so badly he couldn't open them for a couple minutes.

This was before the flu and strep test. Clearly he is very sick.

Both tests came back negative. We went straight to McDonald's for a happy meal and then to Sonic for a slush per his request. He perked up after the doctor and never looked back. Hopefully his little body is fighting it off quickly. The one time I run to the doctor immediately I am reminded why I usually wait it out!
