Weekend Wrap Up

Here's a very late weekend wrap up that starts all the way back at last Thursday. Better late than never, right? My brother, Dave, was working in the area last week, so he came over for dinner on Thursday night. After tacos, rice, and watermelon, the boys played outside before it was time for Uncle Dave to leave and for Miles to go to baseball practice.

Carson is always glad to have visitors.

Carson woke up in a good mood on Fri-yay!

Granny and Pa came to stay all weekend so they could watch Miles play baseball. We had three days of baseball and I must say, Carson was cooperative all weekend. He was pretty much over it by Sunday night but who could blame him at that point.

Before the baseball games started on Saturday, the boys asked for donations at Walmart to support their World Series trip in June. People were so nice and generous. I will never walk past a group at Walmart again without giving something.

The games ended early on Saturday due to rain, so we hung out at home. The rain was cold, but Carson didn't mind at all.

In the midst of our lazy, rainy afternoon, we decided to work on a little potty training. Carson hasn't shown much interest, so when he agreed to put on his underwear, we went with it. He did really well.

He's not wanting to wear them all the time, so I'm just letting him decide for now. I'm hopeful that when he decides it's time, he will get the hang of it in no time.

Miles played catcher most of the weekend and was exhausted by the end of it.

On Sunday, it was time to go back to the ball field for more fun. Carson was ready to go after a good night's sleep.

We had a break in the games on Sunday, so we brought a friend home to play. I think these two might be basketball players at heart.

They won a huge semifinal game to advance to the championship game, and then came in as runner up.

They are a 9 & Under team, but played in a 10 & Under tournament, so it was an impressive weekend. They are working towards the World Series, so hopefully they grew a little in this tournament. These boys have been together for 3 years now. We lost one and gained one, but everyone else is the same. Their bond is strong.

One of the boys from the other team (that won the championship) is the son of a good friend of mine from college. It's always good to see her at the ball field. I am a big fan of friendly competition, so I like to see the boys show good sportsmanship. Even at this age, you see kids high fiving an opponent when they get on base after a good hit. It's really neat to see.

Our weekends this time of year are very busy, but seeing this smile and knowing he's having fun (in the midst of lots of pressure) makes it all worth it. I've been told so often that these years go so fast and one day you'll want them back, so I'm trying to soak them up.
