Darrin had a first on Friday night. He was the announcer for the basketball game at his school. He would never brag on himself, but Miles said he was great and everyone was telling him what a great job he did. He said it was fun. I'm not surprised...he doesn't hate the spotlight. Ha! He's helping out for a few more games this season.
Carson and I stayed home. We played and watched TV. He asked to go to bed before 8pm. The daycare weeks are long for him. He's usually really tired when Friday night rolls around.
Miles had two games on Saturday morning. We were so excited to watch him play.
They won the first game by a big margin, but then got beat by the same margin in the second game. The second team they played is very good. They have already beaten us three times this year.
Miles was so disappointed after the game b/c he wants to beat them so badly. It's going to take some more practice and the stars to align. I'm pretty sure they practice basketball like our boys practice baseball.
Carson was good at the first game, but then wanted to go to Marmee's house to play during the second game.
Marmee got to see Miles play really well during the first game and then have some time with Carson too. Hopefully that was the best of both worlds.
It was a very fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I'm going to miss watching games while they are off for Christmas break.
After the games, we found ourselves with an afternoon at home and nothing to do. That is so rare!
Even though it was cold, we all went outside to play for a while. Boys need fresh air daily no matter the temperature!
Darrin and Miles worked on basketball.
Carson played in his own little world. He happiest when he's outside. They don't go outside at daycare when it's cold, so it's important that we get outside on the weekends.
It was so nice to have some free time together. That is definitely a perk of basketball over baseball. Baseball lasts so long. Basketball is quick and you are home.
Saturday night, we started a new puzzle. Carson amazes me for his age. Darrin and I commented how we've pretty much lost the pre-teen that doesn't want to hang out with us much, but now Carson is stepping in. I'm a fan of the seven year age gap.
Our elf has been doing some crazy things. Last night, he brought some dinosaur gummies and was pretending to feed the dinosaurs. Carson wanted his picture with it.
This morning, we went to church before having my mom over for lunch.
We worked puzzles and Marmee built a fort for Carson in his room.
We went to the car wash to wash and vacuum my car. My car was so dirty and it makes me crazy to drive around like that for long. Since I go back to work tomorrow, I felt it was time to get my life in order :)
Well, I've been off for 3.5 weeks and I go back tomorrow. I've caught up on two seasons of A Million Little Things, two seasons of This is Us, watched 900 episodes of Home Town and House Hunters, and listened to several audio books. I've done some things around the house and took care of a lot of Christmas shopping, but I tried to take it easy to ensure I wouldn't have any set backs. I think I have accomplished that. I feel like I've been off forever. It actually feels strange to be going to work tomorrow. If it weren't for Covid, I would be a little more excited to get back in the swing of things, but it sure does complicate my job :( I am ready to see and talk to my co-workers! Ready or not, it's time to tackle the week.
