Random Things

Carson's room is stressing me out big time. He has made a huge fort and has slept in it for two nights. He has stuff everywhere and doesn't want to part with anything. We must make room for Christmas soon. This will not work.

I found the best way to ensure that Miles doesn't overlook his chore list...put a reminder on top of the donut box.

Miles had his first game back after getting his cast off. He did so good!

He clearly missed playing while he had to sit out and it was just the right motivation for him to hustle.

He took his first charge too! Darrin told him that he would pay him $5 for every charge he took. It reminded me of back in the day, we used to get him ice cream if he caught a pop fly :)

Carson was student of the month! We are so proud of him. His good behavior in kindergarten has been a pleasant surprise.

Someone made this recipe for Thanksgiving at work and it was so good. I wanted some more, so I made it and took it to our family Thanksgiving. To make it, you just dump everything in the crock pot.

Carson made the most of the beautiful weather recently. He and a neighbor friend played outside for hours. Looks like a day well spent.

Miles had a great time at Beta convention. I requested pictures and got several of the hotel and food, but none of him.

His teacher came through with an actual picture of him and his friends.

Weekend Wrap Up

It's been a great Thanksgiving weekend for us. Carson's teacher posted this on their classroom page. I asked Carson which one was his...turkey and pie, which made me laugh. He wants to eat all the time because he's growing and likes to have something to do, but he is definitely not a foodie, like Miles, yet.

We celebrated with Marmee and Granny & Pa at Darrin's cousin's house.

It took some time, but Miles won over the youngest of the group, Everleigh.

Carson and I ate our Thanksgiving lunch together.

Darrin's cousin set this up in the garage for the kids and Carson played on it almost the entire time we were there.

Crystal brought their new dog and everyone loved him. He was soooo good.

These are two of Darrins' cousins. We were at Amanda's house (on the left). Darrin grew up on the same property as both of these cousins and they have always been close.

We played a game. This is how we faired....

Pa and I were both turkeys.

We are so thankful to have these moms and grandmothers in our lives. I love that they both live close by and we get to see them often.

Pa & Granny came to our house for the first in a while. Everyone has been so busy. Carson and Pa had a lot of catching up to do.

We played Farkle, which is one of Carson's favorites right now.

We put up our Christmas decorations on Friday. It looks the same as it always does. I was telling Miles that I wish I had some new stuff because it always looks the same. He said that he doesn't think that is a bad thing and that he kind of likes it that way. It prompted me to ask him what his favorite decoration is. He immediately said our Christmas dishes. I never would have guessed that. We registered for our Christmas dishes when we got married and have used them almost every year for 20+ years now. I'll have to post a picture soon.

I love when our sunroom is decorated for Christmas. It makes me want to turn out all the lights except the tree and watch a Christmas movie, which is not like me at all.

We all couldn't wait to watch the Titans' game today.

Unfortunately, it didn't go our way.

After lounging around watching the game, Darrin and I had to dress up again and go to a wedding. It was 10 minutes from our house and we didn't stay long after the quick ceremony because the boys were home alone. I wore a knee length dress with open toed shoes only to discover the wedding was outside. It misted rain the whole time but surprisingly I didn't freeze. Side note...I learned how to curl my hair with the flat iron. It was by accident because I forgot to turn on my curling iron and didn't have time to wait for it.

Time to go get Miles from basketball practice. He is cleared to play this week since getting the cast off and we can't wait to watch him!

Weekend Wrap Up

Such a action packed, fun weekend! The boys ate Mexican to kick off the weekend. I was running some errands after work for a party we hosted on Saturday.

I had my first peppermint milkshake of the season.

Exciting news...Miles got his cast off!!! He said his arm feels great. He has one week of light practice and then he's released for full play. Talk about a best case scenario.

Carson went to a birthday party for a girl in his class. She hooked him up with a wrist band when we got there. It was so cute the way she put it on for him. She's a take charge kind of girl and I like it!

She changed into a sparkly dress to open her presents and I think Carson approved :)

Miles had two basketball games. He wasn't released for the games, but he was able to shoot around in warm ups. He's ready to get back out there next week.

We hosted a Friendsgiving for our baseball team parents. My friend brought a hostess gift. She was joking with me about my love for puzzles, but I'm pretty happy about it.

I planned several games because we are a competitive bunch. We tend to gather in the kitchen around the island, so I purposely planned games that we could play there. A new game that was perfect for the island was the Hot Wheels Challenge

Left, Center, Right is always a hit.

I know the saran ball game has been around for years, but I had never made one or played it. That was a lot of fun to play and watch. If you are making a sarah ball, my tips are to use the cling wrap from a home improvement store that is very wide and used for packing and to put space between the gifts so you ensure one person doesn't get two gifts in one turn.

The men watched some football, but they were nice to play most of the games. I think my favorite game of the night was the Bowl Game. It was simple, but fun. We laughed so, so hard.

Love these people!

Miles left this morning on a school trip for a couple days.

Carson was sad to see him go.

Carson played outside all afternoon. I went out to check on him when it was almost dark and he was in our neighbor's house eating chicken and dumplings. They have started feeding him dinner almost every weekend. Miles would never make himself at home like that, but Carson has no issue with it. He fell and scraped his cheek and under his nose earlier in the day. His nose bled a little bit. I thought it was worse than it was, but he was back outside in less than 10 minutes after a quick ice pack.

My mom bought us a new Christmas puzzle. It is so much more fun than the Halloween puzzle.

I am not mentally prepared for work tomorrow after such a busy weekend. At least it is a short weekend with Thanksgiving. Here's hoping we feel rested after some good sleep.

Less Words Wednesday

We moved from Martin to where we live now just before Miles started kindergarten. He had gone to the same daycare since he was 6 weeks old, so it was a transition for all of us. We thought his daycare friends would be his school friends for life. I remember feeling so sad after Miles' kindergarten party because we didn't know anyone at school and he wasn't going to Martin.

Miles had a basketball game in Martin on Monday night. One of Miles' closest daycare friend's mom sent this picture to me from after the game. These kids were daycare friends, church friends, and neighbors.

Avery Reece was on the blog all the time back in those days. This post sums it up.

Her mom and I had to walk down memory lane. That Batman picture is one of my all time favorite pictures.

He doesn't remember all the kids, but the pictures meant a lot to me. We are so thankful for unanswered prayers and all that, but Martin and our time there will always be very fond memories.
