Weekend Wrap Up

Weekend wrap up and then some, in no particular order. Darrin and I did not feel good this weekend, so we stayed home all weekend, rested, and made lots of good food. We made this BBQ Chicken pizza with a different crust and it was so good.

Marmee went with us to Miles' basketball game. Not long after this picture, Carson had an epic meltdown. Tired, hot, and hungry, I think. It was a rough night with him.

Miles last scheduled game of the season was canceled, so this was actually his last game. It wasn't his best game and he's sorry to end the season on that note.

I remembered that elementary school was stressful, but I did not remember to this degree.

Holiday nails.

Miles went bike riding with a friend at a new park near us.

We went through a whole batch of puppy chow this weekend. I texted my best friend from high school and told her that this recipe always makes me think of her. She taught me how to make it :)

Our elf brought the boys a mini waffle maker, so we had fun with that this morning. Carson kept saying how nice it was that the elf brought us a present.

I went to eat with some Martin friends. We laughed so hard, which is always my favorite thing to do. We sat in this booth for 3 hours catching up and I feel like we didn't even scratch the surface. It felt like speed dating trying to get through all the topics.

Can you tell who the affectionate one is?

Carson bought presents for Darrin, Miles, and me at his school's Santa's Village. When I pulled in the garage after work, he was already unwrapping it for me. He handed it to me as soon as I opened my door. Miles didn't get home until later. On a whim, Carson unwrapped the present that he had bought for Miles and played with it. When he realized that he no longer had a gift for him, he was so regretful. He kept saying, "this is all my fault". He had bought Darrin two presents, so Darrin let him give one to Miles and all was right in the world.

In keeping with our food theme this weekend, we got wings from a local place just up the road from our house. We are all hooked on them. Miles said they are the best wings ever.

Carson helped me fix my hair.

After a restful weekend, I hope Darrin and I are ready to go back to work tomorrow. We haven't run fever all weekend, but there's so much coughing. That could go on for a while, so I'll just have to pack extra cough drops and get back to it. One more week of work and then I'm off until after Christmas!

Less Words Wednesday

I let him touch the Elf and his whole Christmas season was made. He loves stuffed animals so much, which made it almost torture not to hug and touch the elf. I finally decided that since I have a direct line to Santa, there is no reason why I can't change the rules.

Weekend Wrap Up

We went to Darrin's work Christmas party on Friday night. We don't know many people that well since Darrin works remotely, so I thought this might be our only chance of a picture together which was before we left the hotel. It was a really nice party with great food and prizes.

There were so many prizes, some big, some smaller, but all nice. We walked away with a bigger prize...a big TV! It proved to be a challenge since we took an Uber to the party :) but we got it home with some help and a game of musical cars.

When we got back to the hotel after the party, Darrin had some sort of allergic reaction and became very congested and also broke out in hives. We ended up leaving to drive home at midnight after he had taken a benadryl and I had taken an Ambien. We got home at 1:45am after a surprisingly easy drive. We don't know what got to him, but I think it was something in the hotel because he improved quickly after we left. Very eventful night, but it was nice and I enjoyed meeting his co-workers and their spouses.

Carson had birthday party at a trampoline park yesterday. Miles is at a birthday party at a different trampoline park as we speak. I've just been hoping and praying to go 0-2 with injuries at these parties.

He misses his daycare friends and was happy to hang out with them at the party.

Saturday night, Miles had a winter dance. Another mom and I took a group to eat pizza locally before the dance.

Sharp dressed boys for church. When I set out Carson's clothes for him, I thought there was a very small chance he would wear the sweater. Instead, it actually seemed as if he liked it. He's been surprising me lately with his clothes. We still have a long way to go, but maybe he's getting there.

Carson wrote his list for Santa, which included a PlayStation, a teddy bear, Legos, a toy kitchen, and a basketball goal for his room. I may have influenced the Legos and basketball goal because I know what Santa has decided for him.

I did a quick clean out of Carson's room and I feel like I can breathe again. I swapped his dresser and the foos ball table and I like it so much better. The dresser isn't quite as convenient, but I don't have to get in there often. I put away his clean clothes once a week and pick out all his clothes for the week on Sundays.

I added some lights to this little tree and I think it looks so pretty. I was wanting a few new Christmas things and my mom gave me some of her stuff that she wasn't using. It was just what I needed.

We ordered wings from a new to us local restaurant. We loved them and will be back!

Carson is currently living his best life in the sun room with all his stuff animals.

It's going to be a fun week at work. I get to ring the Salvation Army bell and attend a tourism and retail day for the county Leadership day (which means local shopping!). The weekends go by fast, but it was a good one.

Random Things

Carson's room is stressing me out big time. He has made a huge fort and has slept in it for two nights. He has stuff everywhere and doesn't want to part with anything. We must make room for Christmas soon. This will not work.

I found the best way to ensure that Miles doesn't overlook his chore list...put a reminder on top of the donut box.

Miles had his first game back after getting his cast off. He did so good!

He clearly missed playing while he had to sit out and it was just the right motivation for him to hustle.

He took his first charge too! Darrin told him that he would pay him $5 for every charge he took. It reminded me of back in the day, we used to get him ice cream if he caught a pop fly :)

Carson was student of the month! We are so proud of him. His good behavior in kindergarten has been a pleasant surprise.

Someone made this recipe for Thanksgiving at work and it was so good. I wanted some more, so I made it and took it to our family Thanksgiving. To make it, you just dump everything in the crock pot.

Carson made the most of the beautiful weather recently. He and a neighbor friend played outside for hours. Looks like a day well spent.

Miles had a great time at Beta convention. I requested pictures and got several of the hotel and food, but none of him.

His teacher came through with an actual picture of him and his friends.

Weekend Wrap Up

It's been a great Thanksgiving weekend for us. Carson's teacher posted this on their classroom page. I asked Carson which one was his...turkey and pie, which made me laugh. He wants to eat all the time because he's growing and likes to have something to do, but he is definitely not a foodie, like Miles, yet.

We celebrated with Marmee and Granny & Pa at Darrin's cousin's house.

It took some time, but Miles won over the youngest of the group, Everleigh.

Carson and I ate our Thanksgiving lunch together.

Darrin's cousin set this up in the garage for the kids and Carson played on it almost the entire time we were there.

Crystal brought their new dog and everyone loved him. He was soooo good.

These are two of Darrins' cousins. We were at Amanda's house (on the left). Darrin grew up on the same property as both of these cousins and they have always been close.

We played a game. This is how we faired....

Pa and I were both turkeys.

We are so thankful to have these moms and grandmothers in our lives. I love that they both live close by and we get to see them often.

Pa & Granny came to our house for the first in a while. Everyone has been so busy. Carson and Pa had a lot of catching up to do.

We played Farkle, which is one of Carson's favorites right now.

We put up our Christmas decorations on Friday. It looks the same as it always does. I was telling Miles that I wish I had some new stuff because it always looks the same. He said that he doesn't think that is a bad thing and that he kind of likes it that way. It prompted me to ask him what his favorite decoration is. He immediately said our Christmas dishes. I never would have guessed that. We registered for our Christmas dishes when we got married and have used them almost every year for 20+ years now. I'll have to post a picture soon.

I love when our sunroom is decorated for Christmas. It makes me want to turn out all the lights except the tree and watch a Christmas movie, which is not like me at all.

We all couldn't wait to watch the Titans' game today.

Unfortunately, it didn't go our way.

After lounging around watching the game, Darrin and I had to dress up again and go to a wedding. It was 10 minutes from our house and we didn't stay long after the quick ceremony because the boys were home alone. I wore a knee length dress with open toed shoes only to discover the wedding was outside. It misted rain the whole time but surprisingly I didn't freeze. Side note...I learned how to curl my hair with the flat iron. It was by accident because I forgot to turn on my curling iron and didn't have time to wait for it.

Time to go get Miles from basketball practice. He is cleared to play this week since getting the cast off and we can't wait to watch him!
