Wrap Up

This is more of photo dump/wrap up of the last couple weeks. It's late and I'm getting sleepy, so this is the less words edition. Ink is a thing in our house. Miles will probably be the only one that never goes there.

It's so fun to see former players when they are all grown up and functioning with big girl jobs.

Loving some nail colors lately. This is Charged Up Cherry.

This is Drama at La Scala.

We experienced the rainiest baseball weekend ever last weekend. We had tents, rain jackets, ponchos, hats, and umbrellas and still got soaked.

The fields were all turf, so we played through it. It rained for two days straight.

There was a 10 minute rain delay at the end of the second day and they almost called it, but then it dried up long enough for us to finish our game.

We will never forget that very wet weekend!

Darrin's season is in full swing. He has a faithful fan section.

When he's on the road, we still make a night of it. We had pizza, popcorn, the game on the TV, and the stats on the computer. In some ways, it's more fun to watch at home in my pjs.

Yesterday was haircut day for both boys. Carson gets his cut every other time that Miles does.

Miles likes his hair very short on the sides and back, so he usually goes every 3 weeks.

Carson has been a whiny mess for the last week. I've been worried that he's getting sick, but I think it's because he's missing Darrin. Me too, me too.

Carson had a birthday party for his good buddy, Max (far right). These four are tight at daycare. They are all in the same class this year.

Too bad Carson had zero fun at Max's party :)

It was at a small farm. The animals were all so clean and friendly. It was a very cute party. They feed the animals, collected eggs, and milked a cow.

We had Marmee over for dinner last night.

After dinner, we played Monopoly and colored.

It's Darrin's birthday week! He's going to be out of town on his actual birthday, so we celebrated today. We usually do the fill in the blank questions instead of cards. Some of the funny answers were that Darrin likes to wear Union volleyball shirts and vests (if you know, you know) and when he wakes up he is "tired". Carson said his favorite thing to do with dad is to ride in his truck, which is so very true. Miles said that his favorite thing to do with dad is to fish. They both said that the one thing that Darrin always says is "I love you". Also, very true!

Carson is kissing Darrin's head. His love for Darrin runs deep.

We are so lucky to have Darrin our lives. He's loving, giving, helpful, affectionate, and loves us all so much. Happy early birthday!

Less Words Wednesday

The boys had dentist appointments today. I wish I looked forward to mine like they do theirs.

We got there early b/c I wasn't sure how long it would take to pick Miles up from school. The boys were happy to play the games in the waiting room.

Carson is still rocking any kind of medical appointment.

Still riding the high from his homerun.

A baseball dad posed him after the game to take pics for us. You have to love friends like that. They get it.

Carson has been very scared in his room at bedtime. He finally told Miles and me that he is scared of the other side of his bed. So, we pushed his bed up next to the wall to eliminate the scary gap. He's gone to bed without any trouble for three nights in a row. This is BIG news. Bedtime has been a struggle for quite a while resulting in a ton of frustration and a much later bedtime than I like.

We went to the sixth grade football game the other night and Carson was glued to it.

Never a dull moment with this one.

We Missed It

We sent Miles with another baseball family last weekend to play baseball in Mississippi. This is the first we've sent him without us. I was in Nashville celebrating my brother and sister in law's 40th wedding anniversary and Darrin had a game. We were following Miles' game on game changer and knew he was up to bat. My phone rang and I instantly thought he was hurt. Instead, my friend and fellow baseball mom said, "Your kid just hit a homerun...a bomb over centerfield!" I hate that we missed it, but we are so happy for him and wouldn't trade that for anything.

The look of pure joy from Miles and his coach as he rounds third base is priceless.

He has the best teammates that are genuinely happy for one another.

We are thrilled for him and can't wait to watch intently until we get to see the next one.

Ten Things

Carson looked like a mess for school today. His clothes were too small. He had on two random Sheriff stickers on his shirt and his hat didn't match. Unlike Miles who has always worn whatever I've bought for him, Carson has strong likes and dislikes when it comes to clothes.

I love their age difference and how much Miles helps with Carson. He gets him checked in for church each Sunday.

Carson made his own snack the other day while I was outside by the pool. Honestly, I was too lazy to get up. Next time, I'll get up. I can't live with this.

We took the boys to Yogurt Square. It was Carson's first time and he loved it.

Miles has always been poised and ready for pictures. I guess when you've been blogged about your whole life, you learn to smile.

Miles least favorite chore is watering the flowers. For now, Carson doesn't mind.

We are still drawing like crazy with Art For Kids. Carson told me repeatedly how good the Sharpie smelled :/

I've been ordering from Shein and it's surprisingly good. The only downside is that the shipping takes a while. This shirt is from there. It kind of looked like it was eating me all day, but I still liked it. Easy and cheap work clothes. Sometimes they can run weird, but the price is so good that you can afford to try them.

Carson asks us to play with him all the time. When he does get engrossed in playing by himself, he plays so well. It doesn't happen as often as we would like, but it just makes us notice and appreciate it that much more.

Miles received a merit from one of his teachers today. She said he always says good morning and goodbye before leaving her room. She said he is one of the most polite students she's ever had. We have never received a note this nice from a teacher. What an encouragement for him and us.

Less Words Wednesday

Darrin's season kicked off last weekend. They went 4-0!

It was fun to have Granny and Pa with us for the weekend.

I got a new heart rate monitor that goes around my arm instead of chest. It's taking some getting used to.

I haven't blogged about my Lyme disease in a long time. Still just maintaining, which takes a lot of supplements (which equals a lot of money) each day. But it's so worth it!

We love having Marmee close. Carson was happy to stay with her during Darrin's later games on Friday and Saturday night.

He crushed picture day.

We made potato soup over the weekend and I remembered how good it is. I looked for a link on the blog and realized I've never shared the recipe. I will do that soon! It tastes better than my picture makes it look.

Miles and Carson got to go to a farm recently. Carson loved the goat named Betty.

Mom tax.

How nice to have a 12 year old boy metabolism and be able to sit down with a package of Oreos.

We joined the local country club recently. The boys were happy to finally get out there and enjoy it over the weekend.

The water was cold, but the weather was beautiful.
