Less Words Wednesday

Carson saw his little daycare buddy at church. He took care of Alex all summer and Alex was thrilled to see him at church.

Sunday was First Grade Bible day at church. He was so happy to get a bible. I love that our church does this.

Miles was always nervous for days like this, but Carson enjoys the spotlight.

We have 4 more weekends before our pool closes. It hasn't been the best summer because of the weather, but we've all had some fun.

Miles was sick last week and had to miss three days of school.

He sure didn't feel good.

Carson lost a tooth at school...

...and got a "Shoe Sheriff" award all in the same day.

Some mornings call for a loaded tea and McDonalds breakfast.

Since Carson isn't playing any sports this fall, we are letting him do a couple hitting lessons. I love the trade off because it's saves a lot of time and money, which feels appropriate for his age. He LOVED the hitting lesson and did really well listening and responding.

Happy Birthday, Miles

Miles is 14! He woke up this morning and went to work out with Darrin before school. He was excited to come home and open his presents before school. I've started wrapping their presents a couple days ahead of time so they can look forward to it. He said last night felt like Christmas.

He got AirPod Pros (so I can have mine back), a case for them, Crocs socks, and Jaeger bands. He has been saving money for 6 months to buy a new bat, so we thought we'd help him out with the AirPods that he's been wanting. He said he had a good day at school and then we had steak for dinner. I think it's been a great day for him.

Yesterday we celebrated with his friends. I picked up a carload after baseball practice. This was a stinky car...

The boys swam...

...and played blitz ball...

They ate pizza and cupcakes too.

Carson was happy to have Hay Hay here. I think Hayden was equally happy.

Miles opened his gifts after the boys left and he finally had enough to get a bat. He's shopping and watching reviews as we speak. After so much deliberation, I think a bat may finally be ordered by the end of the night!

At fourteen, Miles loves working out, food, playing video games online with his friends, sweatpants & a hoodie, his cell phone, and most of all...baseball. He fulfills the first born, older brother role so well. He is a joy and we love him so much

Life Wrap Up

I didn't take that many pictures this weekend, so this is more of a life lately wrap up. We have had some big time storms lately. Our pool umbrellas ended up blowing around last week.

Just this morning a tree fell, a chair blew in the pool, and debris went everywhere. The wind blew so hard.

School is going well for both boys. They are both happy with their teachers.

Carson had a friend over to swim and play. They had so much fun.

They get along every now and then.

Miles is still taking hitting lessons. His travel season kicks off in two weeks.

Carson has been having some sleeping issues. We thought it would end when school started and the naps at daycare ended, but he's still randomly having issues. It seems like we always have the cot or a bed on the floor set up in our room.

He says he's not tired or he's scared or he doesn't like to sleep by himself. We are trying to be understanding without giving in completely. When we can tell that he is not going to go sleep in his bed, we just let him sleep in our room. This too shall pass.

We have had 4 groceries deliveries in the last week and spent of a TON of money. Partly due to poor planning, but also these kids eat so much. I remember people telling me how much teenagers eat, but I never imagined this. And I know I'm just getting started.

Haircuts to get ready for picture day soon.

Selfies with Carson.

I am starting to get sad about summer coming to an end. The weather has just not cooperated with us this year. It's been cold and rainy so much of the summer. We had baseball or traveled a lot. We will try to be home more next summer while the pool is open.

Carson was outside when the neighbors came home with pizza for dinner so they asked him if he wanted a piece. He drove it home on a paper towel on his lap.

I hope Carson can grow up with as good of a group of friends as Miles has.

That's our life update. Back to work and school tomorrow. Our busy life continues.

First Day of School

Carson had his final last day of daycare. They let the kindergarteners come back for one summer. Carson looked forward to it all school year. His summer with Ms. Traci at PDS did not disappoint. He loved every single day. It was a sad day saying goodbye, but this time he knew what to expect at school, so that helped ease his heart.

He was happy to see all his friends at Open House the night before school started.

Miles had his open house too. His was a little more chaotic, so it was hard to tell who was in his classes, but he was happy to have homeroom with his buddy, Brady.

After the open houses, school supply shopping, registration, etc...it was time for the first day. The first day of school with boys, especially the second go-around, is pretty laid back. I ordered new shoes and a few new shirts, but none of it even delivered in time for the first day.

I didn't get much detail from Carson, but he said his first day was "good". Miles had a "good" day too.

We are very excited about Carson's year with Ms. Rachel. We've heard such good things about her. I have no doubt that Carson will charm her with his ways. He had to make and "All About Me" collage tonight. He insisted to end the paper with "I'm excited about first grade and I love my teacher so much". He knows how to get the job done!
