Weekend Wrap Up & Happy Birthday Darrin!

We kicked off the weekend on the couch while Darrin had a late practice.

Sometimes (most of the time) snuggling on the couch is my favorite way to spend a Friday night. The work weeks are long!

We had an early morning baseball game in Kentucky, which meant leaving the house at 6:30am.

I wish Darrin was playing volleyball on the weekends, but we have loved having him with us at baseball while he can't be playing. The weather was so beautiful this weekend and we really did soak up the family time. Travel ball is strenuous, but it really does allow for a lot of family time that probably wouldn't be unless we were stuck at a baseball field or in a car together.

Carson wanted to take a funny picture of us. Nailed it. He can't help it that Darrin is so tall.

His picture turned out pretty cute. I don't know how we managed two kids that are morning people, but they both wake up ready to go.

The boys didn't play their best on Saturday and didn't finish has high as they wanted on Sunday, but it was such a nice weekend of baseball.

Most of the playgrounds are closed for Covid, which is really frustrating especially since kids are huddled in dugouts and on baseball fields just feet away, but we managed to find one nearby.

Carson enjoys going to baseball tournaments, b/c he loves playing outside, but he still deserves something fun for him in between games. Granny & Pa came to the games, so we got some lunch and ate in the truck while they played.

Carson had fun playing with another baseball brother all weekend long. They dug in the dirt, collected rocks, ate snacks, and played some video games. They were perfectly entertained both days. I left this picnic blanket at the field on Saturday and it wasn't recovered on Sunday. I am so sad! Even though it was $15 from Target, I loved it.

Saturday night, we picked up some BBQ on the way home. It was a 1.5 hour drive one way for two days in a row. We were exhausted at the end of the weekend.

Darrin turned 44 today! We celebrated with cheese dip and a chocolate cookie dessert.

I apologized a couple times b/c his birthday seemed so ordinary. He said that's how it is when it falls on a Monday. That's probably right, but I still hated it. Truth be told I let it sneak up on me and didn't plan very well. Work has me a little exhausted and behind, but thankfully Darrin is gracious and understanding.

The boys were very excited to celebrate Daddy's birthday. Yesterday, Carson said, "I will give you everything you want." He's told him several times that he is going to buy him a "weed heater" and a chain saw. He really, really wants him to have a chain saw like Pa has.

We love you so much, Darrin! You've handled the disappointments from the pandemic like a champ. We have enjoyed spending this time with you. Thanks for being the best husband and dad. Happy birthday!!!

Weekend Wrap Up

10 pics from our weekend.

Marmee came for a quick visit. This made Carson very happy.

Hornet Nation kicked off their 11U season. It was a local tournament. It was nice to be close to home, but our first game was at 8am which meant leaving the house at 6:15am on Saturday morning.

Miles had one of the best hits I think he's ever had. He didn't seem as impressed with it as I was, but he got safely on base so we'll take it.

Carson was really good both days. He enjoyed being outside. As long as it's not hot, he does pretty well at the ball park. He can handle heat at home, but not at the baseball field.

Eyeing the runner on first...

This morning, I had to take the boys to school b/c Darrin had early practice. I got up and fixed some oatmeal for Carson. While I was in the shower, he asked if he could play for a little while before he ate. I told him yes and then found him like this. Aunt Crystal and Uncle Steve bought this treasure chest for him for his birthday and he LOVES it.

Miles' coach always high fives him as he's walking to catch. I've been trying to snap a pic and kind of captured it this weekend.

Carson was cold last night and I remembered these flannel pjs that Granny & Pa bought him last Christmas. This was the first time he's worn them and he was so proud. I miss him wearing pjs so if he likes these, I will be buying more.

Granny & Pa bought this piano two Christmases ago and he still loves it. We have to take it back and forth from the house to the car b/c he plays it so much.

As much as Miles loves to pitch, catching is becoming his new favorite position. He's taking more pride it in and becoming better.

It was a beautiful weekend and then it was back to the grind today. Our weeks are so busy right now with our jobs and Miles' multiple practices for two sports. Darrin and I have to sit down on Sunday afternoon and decide who is taking the kids to and from school, how Miles is getting to and from practices, and what we are eating for dinner each night. Having a plan is the only way I stay halfway sane. Halfway is good enough for me!

Less Words Wednesday

We went on a double date with some great friends over the weekend. We ate Mexican and went ax throwing. We had so much fun and the only problem was that the night went by too fast.

Miles' Birthday Party

Life has been so busy around here. I took on some additional responsibilities at work...Miles made the 5th grade basketball team...baseball is going strong for fall...Darrin is busy with his team back on campus...and Carson's daycare was shut down for 1.5 weeks due to a Covid exposure. Over the weekend, we crammed in Miles' birthday at a video game cafe cafe.

I tried to talk him out of it telling him that we could spend the money on a present instead, but he was insistent. I'm glad he was, b/c he and his friends had a great time and it was the easiest party we've every thrown.

He invited his baseball team, some of his teammates' siblings, and one friend that is soon to be a neighbor.

We debated whether or not to take Carson. Miles thought he would cause problems and ruin the night. Instead, he was glued to this chair for two hours and only moved for cake.

Miles' friends spoiled him rotten with such generous gifts.

After the party, Carson got in the truck, ate a piece of pizza in record time, and felt asleep immediately. He was all partied out.

Everything is connected so they all played Fortnight together.

Darrin enjoyed the party too. All the parents dropped the kids off at the beginning and so we were the only adults left besides the owners. The kids were so good and mostly quiet since they were glued to their games.

For parties of 10+, you get the whole place to yourself. Don't get me wrong, you pay for it, but it still wasn't as much as Carson's bouncy water slide ;)

Darrin said we are having the party there every year b/c it was so easy. They even provide pizzas and drinks. The only thing I had to bring was a cake. Miles said he was fine with it too. Next year, I won't try to talk him out of it!
