6 Things About the Beach

I did a little work on the blogging app tonight to no avail so I'm trying what I tried last night. Update...It worked great tonight! Minimal time spent.

1) We cooked at our condo two nights during the trip. Our motivation was not having to come in early from the beach and get ready. And also, not having to get ready at all. It didn't hurt that everything was so expensive. I never thought I would be a 'cook at the beach' kind of person, but we really enjoyed it. We had a shrimp boil one night and steak, potatoes, and salad the other. We will definitely do it again the next time and maybe even three nights. The amount of groceries we bought was ridiculous, but we ended up eating almost all of it!

2) The water was rough and full of seaweed half the trip and beautifully clear the other half. The rough days were fun, but the clear days were beautiful. The water was the perfect temperature too. Carson had zero fear of the ocean. Darrin and I have a healthy fear of the water, so we kept Carson as close as possible. The waves would pound him and he would jump up and keep going.

3) Miles played corn hole for hours every day. I do believe he and Nate could win some tournaments together. We talked about finding them some to compete in because they loved it so much. The boards took up a lot of room in the truck bed, but it was worth the Jenga that we had to play to make it work.

4) Both boys loved playing blitz ball on the beach. All the kids on the beach would join in and play until the sun went down. Carson held his own with the big kids.

5) Carson did not like digging and playing in the sand like I thought he would. He was all about the water, blitz ball, and watching Darrin play corn hole. Darrin played a lot of corn hole with his friends too. The boys only got in the pool twice during the trip and Darrin and I never got in. My goal was to spend all of our time at the beach, since we have a pool at home, and we succeeded. It was all about the ocean/beach for us.

6) Miles' girlfriend came with one of the baseball boy's twin sister. They pretty much did their own thing, but talked some and got together for an occasional picture.

We had a good amount of free time in addition to lots of hot, successful baseball. It was a great trip. There was a heat advisory, but that also meant tons of sunshine and warm water, so I loved it. I think the trip exceeded expectations for all four of us. So many memories made with our family and with our friends.

If This Works...

I was talking to a friend about how sad I was about not blogging anymore. I was telling her that I feel so guilty that Miles has years of memories and pictures and Carson doesn't. I told her that I wasn't ready to be done and yet I just can't seem to make myself do it. I love writing but uploading the pictures makes me crazy. She suggested blogging on my phone. I don't want to type everything on my phone, but that gave me the idea to at least use a blogging app to upload the pictures. So, here I am less than hour later with a blogging app and a blog post!

If I'm going to do this, I'm going to have to be less particular. This blog is a scrap book for our family memories, not a job. I am letting go of centered pictures, pictures in chronological order, interesting titles (not that they ever were!), and proofreading, which honestly never did much good anyway. I'm accepting, short posts and random posts with no themes. I really want to find a way to make this work especially for Carson during these younger years. Here goes random!

I've had some stellar nail color choices in the last couple months. I wanted bright pink and I'd say I got it. This is OPI Exercise Your Brights.

We went to the beach for Miles to play in a World Series. They won their age division & class! It was the best week. More to come on that in another post.

Miles went with his girlfriend's family to watch a play. This is a first!

Another nail color that I loved for the beach since Miles' team is orange and blue. I don't remember the name.

We went to a graduation party for our niece, Olivia. Olivia first appeared on the blog when Miles was born. How did we get here???

City league baseball ended with a undefeated season and a championship for Carson, and an undefeated season and runner up for Miles. Lots of fun, but man, baseball every night during the week after working during the day is no joke. I was not sad when it was over.

Carson graduated from pre-K! This deserves a post of it's own too.

Miles is growing overnight. He's almost 4 inches taller than me now.

Well, this has been a good test. I need to figure out some things to make the pictures upload faster, but it just might work. I think I will have to pay for an upgraded version of the app to avoid ads, but that is an easy fix. Thank you, Stephanie, for the idea! Fingers crossed!
