Weekend Wrap Up

We had a fun, busy weekend. Granny & Pa came to stay with us all weekend. We were able to squeeze in a game of Rack-O on Friday night while the boys stayed entertained on their own. Carson played with playdough for a long time. We traded the uninterrupted game time for a pretty big mess when we were done. Saturday morning was leisurely which everyone enjoyed.

Carson spoiled Granny and Pa with extra snuggles. As wild as he is, he is just as loving and sweet. He loves to go wake them up when they are here. This morning he told them that I told him to...not true!

Saturday afternoon, Miles had two basketball games. I don't know if I've talked about it on here, but he's playing on a travel team verses Upward basketball this year. It's not a very demanding team or schedule which we appreciate, but it's more competitive than Upward which he appreciates.

Unfortunately, his team lost all three games this weekend. They don't have the opportunity to practice much and it shows, but they are improving and he's having fun so that's all that matters to us.

His comfort level and aggressiveness grew over the course of the weekend. He gets very mad at the refs when things don't go his way. Definitely something that we will have to work on and help keep in check but I like to see the fire within him.

Carson loves to go to Miles' games whether its' baseball or basketball. He just likes to be on the go. Thank goodness he is the youngest b/c Miles would not feel the same if we were on the go for Carson's sake. Carson loves to be around Leah, who is sister of one of Miles' teammates. He hung around Leah when we were in Gulf Shores last summer and he's loved her ever since. I had to tell him to stop touching her this weekend b/c he was petting her and rubbing her constantly. He is borderline infatuated with her :) She is such a good sport.

Carson looked a little raggedy with his outfit choice but he insisted on his Titans' jersey. How could we argue with that?

We went to the Annual Black Tie & Boxing event to benefit juvenile diabetes. This is the third year we've gone and it's always fun. Our friends' daughter was diagnosed 3 years ago, so we always support them.

We were able to go out to eat before the event with our friends, Abby & Jake. It was good times and good food.

I always have a good time with these girls. The fights are pretty entertaining too.

Darrin and I were pretty tired by the end of the night. We ended up leaving with one or two fights left. We just couldn't hang any longer. We pulled in the driveway right around midnight. It was so nice that Granny & Pa were able to stay. A babysitter would have been pretty steep for that long.

We didn't know it but a young man from our previous church was fighting. He was in the youth group when we were there and he's all grown up now. It was really fun to cheer for someone we know & he won!

This event always coincides with NFL playoffs which is a little bit of a bummer for us. We kept up with the Titans' game during the night and were so excited when the Titans won! They actually announced it at the event and the place went crazy.

After a late night, we had to jump up early and start it all over. First up was church. I tried to get a picture of the boys b/c they looked sharp this morning, but this was the best I could get.

We rushed home to make a BBQ chicken pizza that I've been craving and then it was off to more basketball. Yesterday was pool play and today was the tournament. We lost the third game of the day and headed home. I contemplated staying home with Carson and letting Darrin take Miles since recruiting starts next weekend and he won't get to watch much after that, but I knew Carson would be devastated. Plus, I wasn't optimistic that we would be there long :)

Carson actually did better today than yesterday. I'm just learning how the travel basketball thing goes, so I was much better prepared today. Now, he is napping, Miles is playing video games, Darrin is watching TV, and I am getting ready for the week around the house. I'd love to relax a minute, but there isn't time for that. We have small group in a couple hours and I go out of town for work tomorrow. It's only one night, but Miles go back to school tomorrow and we need to get back in the groove around here. We've been preparing the boys that it's back to reality tomorrow. Hopefully they are ready!
