January Wrap Up

I knew it had been a while since I blogged, but I didn't know it was before the new year. I was sick for so long. I am finally back to normal, so let's wrap up January.

We got 5-6 inches of snow. Because the temps were so low and the snow wouldn't melt, the boys missed 5 days of schools which spanned two weeks.

Miles and Carson played outside a couple days, but it was very cold. It was even in the negative temperatures a couple days. One day as I was driving to work, my car said it was 2 degrees. That's really cold for us.

Miles and Carson have played their share of video games this winter. We make Carson take some breaks. The other day during a break, he was reading his Bible in his room. I found him with his Bible, 3 devotionals, and a Spiderman book. He looked like he was studying to preach a sermon. He came out of his room and said David did something bad. Learning to read has been so fun for him.

Santa bought the boys new sleds and snow gloves, but he neglected clothes, boots, and jackets. Carson had to wear his regular boots outside the first day, because his from last winter were a size 3 and he wears a 6. His socks were soaking wet when he came in. I poured the water out of his boots.

The second day I made him wear my snow boots. They were a little big, but definitely fit well enough for him to wear. They helped him stay warm so much better.

Darrin and I played in it the first day and had our fill.

Miles had to wear my snow pants since he didn't have any. Again, we must prepare better for next time.

Red cheeks and crazy hair after a couple hours outside.

I had to work from home quite a bit. We closed completely one day and then worked shortened hours several days in a row. Working from home is not my favorite, because I like my set up at work, but it's nice to have the ability when I need to.

We've been loving playoff football. We made some predictions last weekend. Marmee and Carson won. We didn't pick this week because as it turns out our family is pretty competitive :)

Lots of inside time this winter. I'm ready for spring...longer days and more time outside in the fresh air. It will be here before we know it.

Miles had his 8th grade baseball pictures. I know it's sad that he's growing up, but I love this age. It's fun to watch him mature and chase his dreams.

We also had high school orientation which seems unreal when I really stop to think about it. He's ready for it!

We're still loving nachos on the kitchen island. We did this for fun, but it's pretty great regarding the lack of dishes too.

Our fridge went out a couple weeks ago. Darrin ordered a part and tried to fix it. Carson couldn't stand that we weren't cleaning out the fridge while we were waiting for the part, so he did it. Unfortunately, the part didn't work and we had to order a new fridge. The snow delayed delivery a week. Thankfully we had a spare fridge in the garage, but it was not fun going out to the garage during the coldest week of the winter to get things out of the fridge.

Carson got a build your own volcano for Christmas, so we did that during the snow storm.

Miles got his new uniform for his middle school season. Their first scrimmage in next week and we are ready for it!!
