This weekend was a good weekend because after 8 long weeks, Miles got to play baseball again. We went back to the doctor last week and even though we thought he was going to get fully released, instead we were left with a vague release that left a lot of it up to us.
Ultimately, we decided he could play outfield, bat, and pinch run. So, no catching or infield.
He got a really good hit his second at bat. The ball bounced over the fence for a double. Apparently this is the team celebration for a double. He said they were cheering for him to do it and he thought, "I haven't been able to do that for a long time."
Running the bases made me the most nervous even though he had a sliding glove on. Every time I got a little nervous, I just said a quick prayer and moved on.
Carson stayed with my mom on Saturday because he had a sunburn and we knew it was going to be a long day at the baseball field. I knew he would have a much better time with Marmee. Splitting the weekend between Marmee's house and the baseball field is the best of both worlds for him. The park had a pond and we knew he would enjoy that on Sunday. He and Darrin took their fishing poles and fished during the little downtime we had.
His buddy Hay Hay brought his pole too. These two are two of a kind. literally brothers at heart.
Miles' team had an incredible weekend of baseball, outscoring their opponents 52-12, and coming home champions.
Sometimes baseball is function over fashion :) It was a little chilly.
Carson offered to carry Miles' bag to the car, which was a really long walk. His heart was happy from a fun day at the ball park and he was in a loving mood.
Darrin is definitely his favorite person.
Today was awards day for Miles. He made the principal's list which is all A's & B's. There are so many boys in his grade level. They are great kids, with or without awards. They were very 'spirited' during the awards leaving me wondering how their teachers do it.
It seemed like the fastest school year ever, but I'm kind of glad 7th grade is over. It was fun, but also hard. Lots of boys, hard school work, interesting age...all that stuff. We are ready for a fun summer and then 8th & 1st grade!
