Weekend Wrap Up

The weekend got off to a rocky start. I actually took the day off which was fantastic. I was able to get a lot of stuff done that I haven't been able to do in a while. But then, Carson's teacher called around noon and said that he was complaining about his ear. He never complains and he's had his share of ear infections, so I called his doctor and got him right in. By the time we got there, he had a fever and chills, and he felt terrible. Thankfully, it was only an ear infection and we got meds and went on our way. He's been much better with some Motrin.

Carson wanted to go to Marmee's house instead of baseball and how could she say no to that?? It was a very hot day. I was very thankful to have my mom's help. Carson does not handle the heat well at all. Miles' team played decent, but lost both games on Saturday.

Darrin had camp all weekend which meant that he needed Miles' help even more than usual. He jumped straight on the mower when we got home.

Miles got stuck in the ditch and our neighbor pulled him out without me having to ask. He saw Miles and was up there with a chain in no time. We don't ever really visit with this neighbor, so I thought it was especially nice that he offered his help.

After the yard was mowed, Miles had a pool party with his team.

They swam and played for hours. I don't know how they had that much energy left after playing baseball in the heat.

Carson couldn't swim b/c of his ear, so we went to the splash pad. He thinks that is the greatest place ever. Since we went at dinner time, it wasn't crowded at all.

A little boy brought a box of popsicles and shared with everyone. I thought that was very nice. Carson ate two. I may have to steal that idea.

Darrin was still at camp on Sunday, but the boys and I went to church. I love summer clothes for church, daycare, and play. They are so much easier than dealing with layers and layers in the winter.

After church, it was back to the ball field. Marmee watched Carson again. It was just me until Darrin came when his camp ended.

After losing both the games on Saturday, Miles' team had a great day on Sunday and won the championship!

Miles got to catch all day on Sunday. He loved that and did a really good job.

Both pitchers on Sunday did a fantastic job, so they celebrated after the games.

It was a fun day of baseball despite how hot it was.

He was proud of this win b/c he knew his team had earned it. It was a small tournament, but all four teams were good.

The team they beat in the championship game is the team that he played with for a day last month. He said they were all very nice to him. It's awesome to see great sportsmanship from kids this age. A lot of times when they get a hit, the kids from the opposing teams will actually say good hit when they get to base or even fist bump them. I think that's incredible for 11 year olds.

Carson had a great time with Marmee, much better than he would have at baseball. We still gave him an opportunity to do the things he loves when we got home. I think it's important to give him his time, b/c a lot of our time is spent on Miles. He rode his gator until it died and then rode his bike for a little while.

We sat out in the driveway until after 8pm, b/c I didn't want the weekend to end.

We grilled hamburgers and made homemade french fries at 9pm and then sat out back until almost 11pm. We never do that!

As I said, I just didn't want the weekend to end. The work weeks are long and weekends fly by. I'm just trying to soak up summer. They start on our pool tomorrow, so our summer is about to get even more fun! We are all so excited.
