Miles wrapped up VBS yesterday. It was such a great experience. Our church knows how to make kids enjoy coming to church and learning about Jesus.
His basketball coach called a last minute practice that was somewhat optional, so we gave Miles the option of VBS or basketball. I was surprised when he said VBS. One of the reasons he wanted to go to VBS was the last day the leaders were getting pie in the face based on a contest between the boys and girls. It took me back to his first experience with pie in the face, when he had an irrational fear of pie :)
Carson and I waited on baseball practice to either get rained out or wrapped up. Even though we are smiling, it was not a very fun time in the car with Carson without much to do or eat.
Baseball practice was soggy.
All the rain has been really good for my flowers, but we are about to float away here.
I'm ready to set these flowers beside our new pool (whenever that comes) and float around enjoying the sunshine.
He mixes up words and uses them in the wrong order within a sentence a lot. When Carson thinks someone is funny, instead of saying that they are cracking me up, he will say they are cracking him out.
He uses the word "for" when he should say "so". He will say, "We need to get something to eat for we will not be hungry".
He LOVES this stuffed animal named George. He has always adored his stuffed animals and treated them with love and care, but George is almost like a friend. He tucks him in next to him every night when he is going to sleep. He will put the covers up over George and situate his arms over the covers or over himself.
He takes him in the car almost everywhere we go, including daycare every day. I looked in the back seat after I dropped him off and saw this. We bought George at Ikea and had no idea how much happiness he would bring to Carson.
The other day Darrin went in to a convenient store to get a drink. He smelled like fried food when he came out. Carson told Darrin that he smelled like a tator tot.
The other day, he pooted in the car. He promptly said, "excuse me" and then told me that if you say excuse me it doesn't smell.
He is a great sleeper. He asks to go to bed every night (with the help of a half of a melatonin) around 8 or 8:30pm. Every now and then he will get in our bed during the night. When he comes to our room, he always comes to my side of the bed and taps my arm in the slightest way. It usually takes me forever to realize he's there. The other day when we woke up Darrin asked where Carson was. I told him that he didn't come to our bed that night. He said that he thought he did. I looked over to feel him standing next to our bed with his head resting on my side of the bed. I guess he tapped and I didn't hear him so he fell asleep standing up! He had been in that position for so long that his head was sweating where he had it resting on the bed. I made sure he knew that day that he doesn't have to wait for me to see him in order to climb in bed with us.
He has reoccurring dreams/nightmares and they are all animal related. That's usually when he comes to our room. He has nightmares that there are "ef-a-lents" (elephants) in the back yard. Or, that there are deer chasing him and he can't get up to the patio and away from them. Recently, he dreamed that there were grizzly bears in our yard. I credit Darrin with his b/c he's always talking about outrageous animals around our house.
Carson is extremely expressive. He's always making eyes or sounds about something. Whereas Miles is intentionally dry and witty, Carson is funny and doesn't mean to be. He lives big and enjoys life. Thankfully, he is pretty good. He can be moody and purposely difficult at times, but most of the time he is reasonable and manageable. When is intentionally challenging, it is usually b/c he is tired. He is not as cautious as Miles, but he does understand limits, boundaries, fear, and danger. He is a daddy's boy through and through. He does fine with me, but when Darrin is around, he wants him 100% of the time. I can't believe he will be five next month. He is pure entertainment and joy for our family and anyone that knows him.
