For as long as I can remember, Miles has complained about his feet and legs hurting after baseball games and practices. We've tried all different kinds of shoes and cleats. When he made the basketball team and they started practicing three days a week and running a lot, he would be in tears when he got to the car. We finally took him to a physical therapist that someone recommended to hopefully get some orthotics. A thorough exam yielded that he had no flexibility in his achilles tendon and lots of tightness and knots in his calves. I didn't take a picture at the beginning of therapy but this is the range he had in his legs and feet. This is a recreation tonight, and if anything, it was probably a little less.
Over the last couple of months, he completed many physical therapy visits and began wearing custom orthotics instead of the store bought insoles that he wore for a while. During his visits, she did some ultrasound therapy and massaged the knots out of his calves. She also taught him stretches that he does daily now. This is how far he's come. He can comfortably touch his heels to the ground. His legs and feet rarely hurt. He comes out of practice often and says that his feet feel great. I am so thankful that we finally took him. She told him at the beginning that he would even be able to run faster when she got everything straightened out because his legs wouldn't have to work so hard.
While he was doing his stretches tonight, Carson was crawling under him like an obstacle course.
She also recommended Asics GT 1000, Asics GT 2000, Brooks Adrenaline, or New Balance 1540. He started wearing Asics and he loves them. Both boys got new shoes today. Miles got another pair of Asics. Our kids have huge feet. Carson is up to a 1Y and Miles is now in a men's 8.
And for some other random pics. Granny & Pa got Carson this stuffed animal from Llama Llama Red Pajama. It is so cute. He took it to work with Darrin today. He calls it his Llama Jama :)
Carson is into to taking pictures lately. He wanted to take my picture and told me to stand exactly like this. I have no idea why but I cooperated.
Darrin still lays down with Carson every night until Carson falls asleep. I try to do it some nights to give Darrin a break, but Carson insists that "Daddy take me night night". Darrin doesn't want to do it anymore because it makes him so tired and worthless for the rest of the night. We told Carson tonight that after Christmas he was going to have to lay down by himself. He ran to his room crying that he didn't want to go night night by himself. Darrin found him like his. Complete despair.
I've jumped on the loaded tea bandwagon because I figured out that half caffeine is perfect for me. I don't get them often because they are so expensive, but I love the way they taste. They are perfect for a treat on a busy work day or a morning after a bad night's sleep. I'm not very adventurous so I tend to stick with the same thing. Bahama Mama is my current favorite.
It's the most wonderful time of the year....time to pick out a new planner! I bought one, but I don't love it. It may not last long. It's functional, but not very pretty. When it comes to a planner, I'll always pick function over the look, but I'd prefer to have both.
Our little elf on the shelf.
And now it's that time...Part I of the Bachelorette finale. Let's do this. Mondays are for the Bachelor.
