We took a little trip this weekend to Chattanooga to celebrate Granny & Pa's 50th anniversary. Darrin's brother and his family live in Florida, so we decided on Chattanooga to shorten the drive for them by 4-5 hours. The boys were so excited to leave early Friday morning.
We rented a lake house which turned out to be the perfect place. There was plenty of room, inside and outside, to spread out and have fun.
The lake was low, but it was so beautiful. The picture really doesn't do it justice.
When we asked Darrin's parents what they wanted for their 50th, they said they just wanted everyone to be together. They were excited to have six grandkids under one roof for a weekend.
Without Covid, I don't think we could have made it happen. Our schedules would have been full, but it's been a crazy year and this turned out to be a perk.
Miles was happy to have a basketball goal.
Oldest to the youngest (17-4), top to bottom, Olivia, Ava, Jayci, Miles, Rowan, and Carson :)
There were presents galore.
And of course lots of food. We stayed in the house and ate all our meals there. Collectively, we did a good job of planning and threw together some meals without too much trouble.
I think we all loved the hot tub. It was so cold getting in and out, but totally worth it. The boys are not in, just talking to the girls. We let Carson get in with us for very short periods of time. He loved it!
We played lots of games and laughed so hard. I highly recommend What Do You Meme? It runs it's course after you go through the cards, but it is worth the laughs. Some of the cards are not appropriate for Miles' age, but we were able to successfully dodge all but one, so it's possible. When I looked up the link, I noticed there is a family edition, so maybe that's an option.
This was a big hit for Carson from Uncle Aaron and Aunt Jessica.
The cousins had a great time together despite some age difference and not being around each other too often. I know they made lots of memories together. I hardly saw any phones or electronics all weekend, so that tells you they were having a good time.
The boy cousins! Miles is 5 years older than Rowan, but he still said he had fun with Rowan and Carson.
It was fun to look around and see the kids doing things they normally wouldn't be doing.
They entertained themselves all day.
Happy 50th Anniversary to these two! I've had the pleasure of being in the family for twenty years now and they are a great example. I couldn't ask for better in laws. They are very special to the four of us and many others.
We are thankful for a wonderful weekend with family. This is how we all felt on the way home and probably rolling into the work week tomorrow!
