Birth -a- versary

In October, we celebrated our 19th anniversary and my 44th birthday. As everyone knows by now, I love birthdays. Darrin did a great job of planning some fun for my day even though I was a total slacker for his. I pulled into the garage after work to see this.

I'll have to make up for my slacking next year since it's a milestone year with 20 & 45. That doesn't seem possible.

We typically do birthday burpees at the gym, but since my shoulder has been bugging me for a while now, I improvised with box jumps. I thought I was picking something that was of equal challenge, but it really wasn't. I'd chose box jumps over burpees anytime.

We had some friends over for cards and dinner the week of my birthday. All the guys in the group have October birthdays, so we celebrated everyone.

These friends...

...gave me a great gift. Sometimes our little town can get in your head b/c there is a lot of "extra" going on. I've found my group that is okay with not trying to keep up with anyone else and just do their thing. Plus, I'm surprisingly not the best at keeping up with my kids and details & such, but I'm thankful these friends love me anyway :)

We cannot believe that it's been 19 years. People always say that marriage is hard and you have to really work, but that hasn't been the case for us. I think you always have to work to compromise, be aware, and always stay vigilant again snares, but daily life has not been hard for us. We argue with the best of them, but we love being married and think it's very fun! Here's to many, many more years together.
