Baseball

I've had this post in my drafts for a while and never got around to posting it, but it was a great weekend that I want to remember. And, since it looks like most, if not all, of the baseball season will be cancelled, it's even more important that I post these pics.

We got in one weekend before the COVID pandemic took over. It was a cold one, but Carson didn't mind. He was happy to go to baseball.

Darrin missed the first day b/c he was recruiting, but was able to come on Sunday.

We had an early game on Sunday and it was chilly. We were able to keep Carson bundled and content for a while until it warmed up.

He was completely covered for a little while and that was ideal for several reasons :)

The perfect way to start the day and the season.

Miles got to pitch both days and he did a great job!

His friends were happy for him. These boys are so selfless. They are wise beyond their years when it comes to being good teammates.

Miles also caught a lot on Saturday. I love this picture of his strut to the mound.

I LOVE this picture so much. He's congratulating his good friend, Hunter, on getting out of the inning. Such a cute smile.

Two happy boys after a long day. Miles was happy from his performance and Carson was satisfied from a fun day and the Sprite he's carrying.

Miles giving his friend, Drake, some encouragement as he's about to pitch.

Miles got put in to pitch during the semi-final game on Sunday with bases loaded.

We lost to that team the day before and a loss here would have sent us home. They were a really good hitting team.

He managed to get out of the inning without any runs scored.

The next inning he let bases get loaded again, but got out of it once more. His friends and coaches were so encouraging and he was loving the feeling of pressure and accomplishment.

Miles got up to bat with two runners on base. Hitting remains a struggle.

He had the best hit he's ever had and drove both runs in! The ball went all the way to the fence between center and right field. Darrin and I looked at each other speechless and asked the heck that was.

He pitched a total of 3.5 innings which is a lot for this age and they won the game.

It was such an exciting game and we were thrilled for Miles. I've wanted this for him b/c I know how badly he wants it. Sometimes, he just has a hard time getting out of his head. It was quite a day for him.

Once again his teammates were the best and showed him much love.

They came up short in the championship game, but this ring will be special to him for a long time.

I sure hope we get to watch more of this team this year, b/c they are fun to watch and they showed a lot of promise in the first weekend. I'm hoping we get through all the cold weekends and COVID moves out just in time for tank tops & flip flops! Go Hornets!
