We are still playing games around here every night. Since Carson usually gets stuck entertaining himself while we play, I told Darrin and Miles that we had to play Candyland with him one time. We played at the table where we play our games so he would feel big. Darrin and Miles weren't happy about this chore, but it made Carson's day. When Carson loses, he whines and says, "I didn't get my turn to win." We don't take turns winning around here, no matter how young you are.
Miles has been attending school through Facebook Live. He has one subject at day and then is supposed to do an activity on Fridays. We don't govern 'homeschooling' like I see many doing on Facebook, but he's still doing the work and attending class...I think. I hear horror stories from other parents about the amount of work their kids are having to do, but Miles' teachers have been more than reasonable and still devoting their time. His comments (he's signed on as Darrin) during a recent lesson made me a little sad. It made me realize that he genuinely misses his friends and teachers.
It was chilly tonight but we spent a little time outside when I got home from work. We have NEVER enjoyed as much quality time as we have during this pandemic.
These are two of my new favorite products. I'm not a fancy hair product person even though I've tried my share. If you have thin or fine hair, go buy the Tresemme' Volume. I used Bumble and Bumble Thickening spray for years and I think this is better, and it's way cheaper. It is hands down the best volumizer I've ever used. The yellow and white spray on the left is Waterless Rose & Peach fragrance mist for your hair. I got it at Target. It smells so good. Perfume gives me a headache, but a little spray of this in my hair doesn't bother me. It doesn't stay with you that long, but I still love it.
We bought an extension of Catan called Seafarers. The fun thing about Catan is the board changes every time and there are so many different scenarios. We are so hooked.
This is our new system for Miles' chores. I write them in a planner daily. Darrin adds some occasionally. I like a planner verses the chalkboard we were using b/c we can keep track of how much he's done and I can plan ahead. This month we decided to start paying him a salary after I read the book Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World. It's not much different than an allowance except he gets a larger sum once a month. He has to save and tithe 10% each. We decided that his salary would be $50 a month if he completes all his chores. Another thing that the book talks about is matching every dollar he saves for a car. We are tossing around that idea too. First, we'll see how this goes.
Miles has become a coffee drinker. He drinks decaf. He usually has a cup while we play games at night. He's always acted like an old man, so this fits him.
I applied Color Street nail strips again. They aren't perfect, but they are a really good option during this time when the nail salons are closed. This color is called US Navy.
Darrin sent me a text while I was at work the other day and said, "I'm probably going to regret this, but I'm taking both boys fishing." Turns out that Carson was great. He told Darrin thank you over and over and is still talking about it. I think this is the cutest picture ever and I loved getting it while I was at work the other day.
I love little boy pajamas. Miles wore them for a long time. Even as he's gotten older, he's worn matching pjs in an older kid style. Sadly, at age 3, Carson says that he wants 'school clothes' meaning a t-shirt and shorts for bed. If I stand a chance of getting him to wear any pjs, they have to be a short sleeve shirt and shorts like this. Having an older sibling has made him grow up faster.
