Vacation Pic Overload

Picture overload with limited comments. I tried to buy some things to give Carson along the drive. It did not work. This was taken shortly before he and I were both crying and we had to stop for the night.

Carson was very happy about our first day on the beach. He went to the beach when he was 11 months, but this is the first time that he knew where he was.

The water wasn't as pretty as Destin (where we usually go), but it was still good. Some days were clearer than others.

My good friend, Abby. Miles and her son, Nate, are very good friends too. She's just one of those friends that I can ask to help with anything.

It was hot, hot, hot at the opening ceremonies on Monday night.

There was a playground conveniently located near the ball fields on 3 of the 4 days that we played.

A rare moment in the car.

Miles' friends have always been so good about including Carson. Many times, like below, Miles wasn't even around and they still played with him. The boy in the middle looks like Miles, but it's actually Tyler. A lot of the boys look alike which confuses us during games.

Miles and Will = great friends.

Zach & Maddox playing with Carson.

Denean (Will's mom) is another favorite of mine. She is zero drama, so I love to sit with her at games.

Our condo was very walkable. There was a market right across the street that came in handy. Granted, the cereal was $7 a box, so we tried to only use the store as needed.

Our condo was on the 10th floor and it took some getting used to. At first the height kind of freaked me out. Miles too. We learned to like it though. Side note, these beach chair were $16 at Sam's and they were a great purchase. They fold up like a baseball chair so they are easy to pack in the car and carry to the beach.

He was throwing a fit on the beach. I'm pretty sure the people around us didn't have any confidence in our parenting skills. I've learned to not care about that.

Playing cards with Nate and Hunter one morning before a game.

Miles loves to spend breaks between games with friends. Other parents are good about trading off so they can hang out together. We took Chaning for lunch and snow cones on this break. Snow cones are my latest obsession, by the way. Tiger's Blood is my favorite flavor.

The baseball siblings were a lifesaver all week long. Miles loved Leah (on the right). He looked for her everywhere. She has such a sweet personality. She is the twin of one of the baseball boys (Lane). We used Leah as motivation all week. Whenever we needed to go somewhere, we would just say that Leah was there and he would hop to it.

One of the baseball moms is Miles' teacher. Carson was happy to be on vacation with Ms. Tiffany. He would randomly hug her.

Endless popsicles.

The night he ate a pound of shrimp.

We had really strong storms one night, so Darrin, Miles, and I all watched them from the balcony after Carson had gone to sleep. Miles entertained us by telling us distinct memories from his childhood. He says he has lots of memories "burned in his mind". He told us that watching storms from the balcony would become one of them :) That's definitely my child wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants at the beach in June.

He was such a patient baseball brother all week long.

They didn't play together much during the week. Carson loved digging in the sand. It kept him occupied for periods of time. He always wanted to go to the pool but we refused on this day and made him stay at the beach. After a while, he accepted it.

Hanging with my friends on the last day.

Our condo was very nice. My only complaint was the sheets that felt like sandpaper. After the first night, I went and bought sheets. We needed new sheets on our guest bed, so it was a win, win. The bed was so much better with new sheets.

Our ride home was actually pretty decent even though we drove it all in one day and it took 10 hours. Darrin sacrificed and rode in the back during one rough patch. I thoroughly enjoyed my turn to drive. Fun fact, Darrin drives at least 95% of the time when we are all together.

Well, I ended up writing way more than I intended. It was a good week. I wish we had another vacation with just the four of us, but this will have to due for this year. School and volleyball start in a month. Tomorrow is back to reality for both of us!
