This is the second time that Miles has flown with him. Uncle Jeff actually lets him take over the controls while they are flying. Miles was only five the first time he flew with him.
It would make me nervous, but Jeff is one of the most competent people I know. He goes through his safety routine before every takeoff.
We finished up the last of the pizza crusts we bought at Sam's and fixed BBQ chicken pizza, salad, and watermelon.
Carson was happy to see Uncle Jeff b/c he brought his birthday presents that Aunt Jeree sent.
He has never been to our house, b/c we always visit at my mom's or brother's house in Nashville instead of at our house which is 2.5 hours away. It was so fun to have him and show him where we live.
I took him back to the airport and watched him take off. Darrin and Miles watched him fly over on his way to Nashville. Miles was swimming in the neighbor's pool and said, "that's my uncle!"
And now to a very important tip. Maybe you already have a great way to cut watermelon, but if not, this is it! We eat 1-2 watermelons a week during the summer, so this method has saved me a ton of time. I don't dread cutting them anymore.
First, I cut it in half. Then, I cut the rind off like this. I probably waste a little, but I purposely don't cut right next to the rind. No one likes those pieces anyway, so I'm generous, when I cut it off.
Next, I turn it on it's side and cut 1" slices.
Then, I lay the slices back down and cut a grid pattern. I cut bite size pieces, like 1" cubes. Everyone likes pieces like this b/c then you don't have to bit into it and drip watermelon juice everywhere.
I'm telling you, it's perfect! Try it and let me know :)
