Less Words Wednesday

Carson wore his cleats to Miles' game the other night so he could practice on a field that wasn't being used. At one point, he was playing on the playground in his cleats and batting gloves.

Time for fishing again, which means fun for them and some alone time for me at home (when they take Carson with them and don't sneak out without him).

Carson went to a birthday party over the weekend and they had a shaved ice truck. It was a big hit.

For the birthday present, Carson took one dollar bills taped together. It had a tab that said "pull" and then money all came out of a gift bag. We've done this often, but this was the best reaction yet.

Carson wanted to read tonight and he did so good.

Darrin wasn't real sure about this section of Rock City.

We loved the fairy caverns part (I think that's what it's called).

I've forgotten to get Carson at daycare twice since school let out. Living up to my reputation. Yesterday I got all the way home and asked where Carson was. In my defense, we never really talked about who was getting him.

Darrin borrowed his uncle's tractor recently to get some stuff done around the house. We had to pick Carson up early from daycare so we could watch the action.

I got a new car and everyone was so happy riding in it on our vacation.

His favorite spot it the house and where he spends every night.

More selfies from Rock City.

Always the same sleeping arrangements when we are at a hotel...Miles and me...Darrin and Carson.

Still talking about our fun trip.

Vacay Weekend Wrap Up

We went on a little road trip over the weekend.

We broke up the drive by stopping at Bucees. Carson purchased his third stuffed Bucee.

We killed a little time by walking around Kennesaw State University in Georgia. My mom used to take me to colleges when we would travel and I thought it would be fun to do the same.

Miles has already been to a lot of schools since Darrin coached for so long. We decided to make a list and give them a rating. He gave Kennesaw State a B+.

They were hosting a travel baseball tournament so we were able to walk into the stadium and watch for a little while.

The baseball facility was underwhelming, so that is why the school got a B. Overall, the school is very nice. It was a beautiful day which never hurts the atmosphere on a college campus. It's a really big school, so it's probably a B for me. Really, really pretty though.

We checked into the hotel and then it was time for the Braves' game, which was the main reason for our trip.

I checked the weather all week and understood that it was going to be cold since it was a night game. We all came prepared, but it definitely not cold. Carson does not do well when he is hot....and he was hot. He was a handful until the sun went down, then he was great.

Miles and I were in awe as we walked into the stadium.

We got there early enough to wander around. We got food, went to the gift shop, and walked down to the field to see a Phillies' player before the game. Truist Park is very lax about letting you walk around and walk all the way down to the field. The Titans' stadium is not like that, so it was a nice surprise.

Miles and I are Braves' fans. But, there are several Phillies' players that we like.

We said we should have made a sign that said "Go Braves but we love you, Bryce Harper". I think we could have gotten on the Phillies' broadcast with that :)

It was an incredible game to watch. The Braves won big time and had 20 hits. I can't remember ever seeing that much action in a baseball game. To see it in person was memorable.

One of Miles' travel teammates was at the game too.

We woke up this morning and went to Rock City on our way home.

Miles was the only one that had been before. We all loved it.

It was really chilly, but we picked a great time of day. When we left, this same area was packed with people.

This picture is so typical. Miles is trying to read the map and telling Carson to slow down. Carson is running down the stares without a care in the world, no clue where he's going.

Carson took over picture duty for a while. We were all a little scared my phone was going to drop off in a waterfall, but he was insistent that he wanted to take some pictures.

I thought I would be brave and walk the bridge. Not my favorite, especially when the man in front of us started shaking it. Miles didn't like it either. Carson was unfazed.

Darrin got stuck with a family behind us. We were laughing so hard. He said he kept having to duck down while they took pictures. It took them forever to get across the bridge.

Carson slept in the car today between every stop. It was a busy weekend and we didn't go sleep last night until almost midnight. My boys rarely sleep in the car, so this was very helpful.

Our next stop of the day was Top Golf in Nashville as we made our way home. Another typical picture.

Miles has wanted to go to Top Golf since it opened in Nashville. He got a gift card two Christmases ago and we finally used it. He loved it. When I asked him if it was what he thought it would be, he said it was better. He's always been a natural at golf, but no interest.

Carson might want to stick to baseball...but he had fun and always wanted it to be his turn. He was constantly telling everyone how many they had left in their turn, because he was very afraid someone might get one more try than he did!

It was a very fun stop. Miles said this was his second favorite thing we did, after the Braves' game. Carson said Top Golf was his favorite.

The final stop of the day was to swing by Vanderbilt and peek at their baseball stadium. We couldn't see much, but it was very nice. We were all very tired at this point and probably should have skipped this, but I didn't know how far we would have to walk.

It feels like we were gone for much longer than 36 hours. We packed a lot in to our trip. Hopefully it will be a memorable one for all of us.

Less Words Wednesday

Miles and Carson's bus driver was also one of Miles' teachers. She is amazing. We bought her some Goodr sunglasses (our 'go to' teacher gift) and she sent us this picture. I already hope that Carson gets her when he's in 7th grade :)

Last day of school. These boys have grown this year.

I picked them up in car rider and we spent the rest of the day in the pool.

The day started off cloudy, but turned into a pretty day. Carson went and got popsicles for Miles and his friend and even cut the ends off. That's actually a big deal because he usually wants everyone to do everything for him and doesn't always do the same in return.

Tip of the week...instead of throwing away the end pieces of bread, put them towards the inside of a grilled cheese and no one will know the difference!

I sure was happy to be sitting by the pool for the first time of the summer. The water is way too cold for me.

Carson was so happy to go to daycare today. I feel like he's been waiting all school year to go back and see Ms. Tracy.

He said on the way there, "I don't remember how to do it (meaning the schedule) because I've been focusing on kindergarten.". I asked him if he was nervous and he said, "I'm never nervous or shy." Tru dat. He is his daddy's child.

Carson got to celebrate his birthday at school yesterday because they celebrated all the summer birthdays.

Miles had his first hitting lesson since he hurt his hand 9 weeks ago. He broke his bat at the lesson. What would it be like to have a month without sinking some money into baseball equipment??

And more pictures from last weekend. Travel ball all started when Miles met Tyler in kindergarten.

Miles threw a kid out at third from right field. His teammates were so happy for him and his teammate at third who put a great tag on the runner.
