Less Words Wednesday

We celebrated Marmee's birthday last week.

She is ready to cheer on the Hornets with her new vest!

We were doing chores on Monday and I told Miles to play us some good music. He said, "Alexa, play hard rock and metal" which he knows I hate. I said, "NOOOO!" and he died laughing because he set me up.

Our boys love to see their grandparents.

We had to take Miles to baseball practice on Monday, so we stopped by the park. Carson was happy to see some friends.

One of Miles' teammates was baptized on Sunday. He invited his friends and they showed up to support him! It was so sweet to see. I even saw one boy recording it. I just love that they were so proud of him.

Miles had his first school scrimmage the other day. He didn't make the team as a 6th grader, so he has waited a year to be part of this team. We are so happy for him and ready to soak up the season.

Carson laughs so hard at Donald Duck that he can't even talk!

They were supposed to be doing chores, but Miles was making a tower out of the paper towels he was supposed to be putting away and Carson was making a tower out of the toilet paper he was supposed to be putting away. It all got done eventually!

Two Long Days

Wednesday was an eeeearly morning. I went to Nashville with my Leadership class. We had to meet at 5:45am to leave on a bus to go to the state capital.

We toured the capital building, had a picture with Governor Lee, met our representatives, and participated in a mock trial. It was all very interesting and I learned more than I care to admit.

This was our final session before graduation. I will miss seeing my leadership friends every month.

Today started at 4:30am with tornado sirens. In eight years of living in this house, we have never gotten in the closet for bad weather. We actually had to wake the boys up and bring them to our closet.

Rumor has it a tornado went right over our little town, but never touched down. Answered prayers.

Darrin (the breakfast maker) left early for work. School was delayed two hours, so the boys and I had a slow morning. Miles actually got up and made chocolate pancakes for the three of us.

He got some swings in before school. This net has been a great investment, because he can practice regardless of the weather or time of day.

This look is called laundry day.

I had an extremely busy day and finished it off with parent/teacher conferences after work. I found Miles' locker and appreciated his artwork. These two days might take equally long to recover from!

Lately

Here's what's been going on lately. It was the opening weekend for Miles' travel team. Kids and parents were all glad to be back at it. These might be my favorite uniforms ever.

The boys had a great Saturday and finished as runner up on Sunday.

Miles had a rough weekend at the plate, which was so disappointing for him after the anticipation. During the prayer after the last game, one of his teammates walked across the group to put his arm around Miles because he saw he was struggling. These 11 kids are the best.

Twins.

Carson spent the night with Marmee on Friday night while Darrin and I went to a Date Night at church. We picked him up on the way out of town as we were leaving for baseball. He was thrilled to stay with Marmee and also thrilled to go spend the night in a hotel.

We took Carson to the ENT recently to talk about some issues...strep and a possible blockage on one side of his nose. As usual, he was so happy to be there because he loves any kind of doctor. The doctor thought it was funny that he likes going to the doctor. He asked Carson why he liked going to the doctor so much and he said, "I just do." We haven't been to this doctor since 2020, when Carson was 3. As soon as we pulled up in the parking lot, he said, "Oh, this is the place with the good toys." They have a big toy section in the waiting room. Sometimes, his memory is freaky. The result of the visit is that he has large adnoids that he will hopefully grow and accommodate. He's fascinated by the rooms and everything in there.

My Valentine's gift was a surprise date last week. The guys each got a little something today. Carson got a watch, which he was very excited about.

Carson made a snack drawer in the hotel room :)

We've had some nice breaks in the weather. Darrin let Carson play at the park while they waited for Miles to finish baseball practice.

All caught up on what we've been doing lately!

Weekend Wrap Up

Friday was dinner with friends. It's rare to find a night that the four of us are free, but we managed, especially before the craziness of baseball season begins.

Miles went to a birthday party for a little girl in his class at the skating rink. He'd never been skating before and he was so excited.

It didn't take him long to realize that skating is hard. It was hard work trying to help him. I took a wheel to the ankle once which didn't feel good. I finally just had to let him go because he didn't want help. I winced a lot and prayed for no broken arms. There was a lot this....

and this...

He was the only boy there and all the girls mothered him the whole time. They were so concerned that he couldn't get it and that he was frustrated. After skating was finished, he was much happier to do this.

I love when they hang out with me in my room. Carson typically talks a lot more than Miles when we hang out.

Miles and I just like to chill near each other, but do our own thing. I hung out in his room earlier today and he told me I was cool. I should hang on to that for a very long time. It might sustain me during the teenage years.

Darrin tackled a project to add an outlet to our island. It took a couple hours, but went very smoothly.

He was happy to test it out later in the day. It will be so nice to have for small appliances that don't stay out all the time, like the griddle, food processor, blender, etc.

Saturday afternoon, Carson told me his throat was hurting. He's been on antibiotics for 8 days. His throat looked awful and he had a temperature. He woke up at 2am and was drenched, so I guess his fever broke. I will have to call the doctor tomorrow to see if we can get a different antibiotic. That kind of explained his rotten mood during skating. I get that it was a frustrating experience, but he was really a handful.

Lots of whining on Saturday.

The guys had some time together after Carson went to sleep while I read.

Carson and I stayed home while Darrin and Miles went to church. We did some drawing and coloring. He did this by looking at another picture in a book. He's a pretty good little artist.

Miles had travel practice today.

They got new uniforms for the spring season. This is one of them and it might be one of my favorites ever. I caught a genuine smile too.

This was a our last weekend before baseball season begins next weekend. It's about to get busy (and fun) around here!
