For the third year in a row, Miles and I went to see a local high school play. We went to eat at Slim Chickens before because we didn't have much time. It turned out to take almost as long as a sit down restaurant and we had to rush to the play.
The play this year was Freaky Friday and it was so cute! As much as he loves sports and video games, I love that he still enjoys stuff like this. We decided that we need to go see a professional play in the future.
Friday morning started by taking Carson to school. He likes to get ready and watch TV until I'm ready to leave instead of leaving early with Darrin. Miles likes to get to school early so he can eat the free breakfast (even though he eats at home every morning!). They have switched places.
Darrin was out of town recruiting so Stephanie, Carson, and I made a last minute trip to Walmart to prepare for the range of 4-13 inches of snow that they were predicting.
We made some very important purchases.
Carson picked out Skittles yogurt for he and Miles. It was really gross in my opinion, but they were okay with it.
In the end, we only got a LOT of rain and a couple inches of snow. It was VERY anticlimactic much to my dismay. I was glad that people that still had to get out in the weather weren't impacted, but I wanted to be snowed in for days.
Since we were prepared to be snowed in, we just stayed in all weekend. Basketball and church were both canceled. Carson did two Legos that he got for Christmas. He's getting much better at them. Miles has zero patience watching Carson figure things out. He just wants to rip it out of his hands and do it for him. Carson would probably be okay with that because he doesn't necessarily love to concentrate. We compromised by having Miles pick out the pieces and Carson read the directions and put it together.
He did the second set all by himself!
I snuggled up with my new heated throw and read a lot of the weekend. I finished Live in Love by Lauren Akins (Thomas Rhett's wife). It was interesting and had a couple of good parenting tips for Christians.
Miles has been showing an interest in cooking lately. He asked to help cook dinner tonight, which was steak, broccoli/cauliflower, mac & cheese, and salad. Future husband training going on over here.
Carson made a 'home' to play in.
He's always taking good care of his animals. It's funny, but I think can tell what kind of friend and future husband he will be by the way he takes care of his stuffed animals. He is so loving, tender, and caring towards them.
Miles played a lot of video games, but he took some breaks. He looked through a lot of his football and basketball cards, and even sorted them in a binder.
He and I took a walk. He's been having some hip pain and the physical therapist he sees monthly told him to walk 30 minutes a day. He gave him a few other exercises too. Since his visit on Thursday, he has had no hip pain. This physical therapist is amazing. I see a long relationship with him as Miles continues to grow and play sports.
The best news is that we are all still off tomorrow! We plan to continue with more of the same along with some chores to get us ready for the week.
