The car line was amazing and moved so quickly. Usually the first few weeks are crazy, but we all seemed to remember what to do. Probably b/c our summer break felt like two weeks, so who had time to forget things like the car line protocol?? Miles jumped out like a pro.
He was very nervous about giving his teachers their gifts. I had to coach him about what to say if his teacher says thank you or if a friend asks what they are. He had his route mapped out as to how he was going to get in the classroom and secure the gift on their desks. I kept asking him what the worst thing that can happen was, to which he replied "Nothing". Still, he couldn't shake the nerves. After school he said it was actually fun to give the gifts. One teacher yelled his name as he was walking away and told him that she needed a hug.
It seems that he has one assertive teacher and one very nice teacher. Both seem great, but different personalities. If I had to guess, Miles will end up doing better in the assertive teacher's class. Overall, he really enjoyed his day. He said one teacher got onto the class for talking. We reminded him that he's in 4th grade and the expectations are higher with every year. He agreed. He didn't have any problems with her, but he did say it was not was he was expecting from her, especially for the first day.
Meanwhile, Carson had his first day at PDS. It's still the same daycare, it's just the first day of their new year. We took his picture at the end of his day, so as one mom said, it's more of a "I survived my first day" picture.
He had an accident and didn't have any spare clothes, so he was wearing some of their extras. It cracked me up that they had "PDS" written in black Sharpie on the front and back. It reminded me of prison uniforms that say "Property of".
I put some molding cream in his hair this morning so he would look cute on his first day. His teacher sent me this after nap time. This is what molding cream and a good nap get you. I wish I could nap like that during the day
We are ready for a great year!!!
