10 Things

Just 10 quick things today. We arranged our sun room and I'm loving the new set up. I moved the chair from my bedroom to the sun room b/c I decided I didn't like to watch TV back there by myself. It's the most comfortable chair in the house and it wasn't getting used. If I'm being honest, I didn't really want anyone to sit in it b/c it might be the nicest piece of furniture that we own. I'm throwing caution to the wind here.

Some days he loves the bath tub...other days he hates it. I think I've found that he likes the water much warmer than Miles did.

Miles is still going to the kids work out class at my gym. He's gotten so much better at the drills in just a few classes. He wants big muscles and asks all the time if he has a six pack yet.

He was so sore after Monday's class. I finally told that he was sore and not hurt, and if he couldn't deal with it then he didn't need to go back. Tough love doesn't really work with him, but enough was enough.

I decided that I wanted my small Christmas tree to be flocked. A friend told me what to order and how to do it myself. Miles was so excited to help me.

I could have put a little more time into it, but I like how it turned out! This is before we moved it in the house and decorated it.

Darrin and Miles brought this little Toy Story chair in from the garage. Carson is very intrigued. Just like he does when he wants to sit in someone's lap, he turns around and backs up to the chair when he wants me to put him up in it. His feet don't touch so he's not sure how to feel about it.

He inhaled his food tonight. I've been blessed with such good eaters. Tonight, he ate grilled chicken, green beans, peaches, and yogurt.

Still the same report everyday from daycare. "Ate all my food. Today I was happy. Nap time for the full 2 hours." He's a biter, so I'm holding my breath a little on that. I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time until I get a note about it.

He's not completely wrecking the tree, but he does like to take the ornaments off and bring them to me :) Good thing he's cute.

Less Words Wednesday

For the second day in a row, Carson did not scream the entire way home from daycare. I was almost frozen the whole way home thinking could this really be??? Sure, he honked the horn on that little toy at least a hundred times, but I'll take that any day over the loudest scream you've ever heard from a toddler. It was a win!

Thanksgiving

I didn't do a great job with pictures this Thanksgiving. In fact, we didn't even get one with all four of us. Darrin's mom was in the hospital recovery from an unexpected hip replacement surgery, so we spent some time at his cousin's house and some at the hospital. We missed having Granny with us, but memories were still made. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Hope it was a good one.

And So It Begins

Miles was so excited when I brought home the Target Christmas book.

Carson was quick to jump on the bandwagon.

Meanwhile, I still don't know what they are getting for Christmas.

7 Happenings Around Here

Miles started a class kids at the gym where I go. The class helps with agility and a little strength training. He seemed to like and went back for a second time today. Darrin said he worked hard.

Family game night with Batman. It was hard for us to keep a straight face. He played like this for a while.

This baby loves his food :)

I know two boys that were happy to have their daddy home this weekend. I had blood pressure issues most of the weekend. It was high and then crashed within hours leaving me feeling terrible. Darrin took the boys to church and took care of them all weekend while I worked on getting my blood pressure back to normal. It finally came up in the afternoon and I felt perfectly fine again.

Carson loves the beginning of Mickey Mouse. He gets so excited and it manages to hold his attention for around 1.5 minutes. No exaggeration.

We had family pictures on Saturday. When the pictures were over, the boys were climbing around on some of the stuff at the park. Carson fell off of a ledge and landed face first. Nothing broke his fall. We really thought his nose was broken. In true Carson fashion, he cried for about 30 seconds and then he was fine. His poor nose was red, swollen, and bleeding from the inside. Thankfully, he looked fine the next morning.

I got a new (to me) car! I've been driving my old car for 8 years and it wasn't new when we bought it. It had zero features and sounded like it could fall apart at any minute. It needed new tires and about $1,000 worth of work, so we decided to unload it. Since apparently we drive cars until the wheels fall off, I wanted to be sure that I got exactly what I wanted this time, including the interior and exterior color. I wanted the interior to be tan leather with black floor boards, and the exterior to be white, black, or champagne. We found this car in Chattanooga and drove 8+ hours round trip to get it last week. We literally prayed as we were pulling out of the drive way that God would help us make it there safely. We had a blow out on the interstate on the way there and ended up rolling into the dealership with a spare on :) They still honored their 'sight unseen' trade in value and the rest is history. I feel like we won at this game. My favorite things are talking on the phone with bluetooth, the heated steering wheel, and how smoothly it drives.

Darrin got a new (to him) truck recently too. We were laughing on the way home from buying my vehicle about the ways we've been impulsive over the years. This actually wasn't impulsive at all, but it was still out of the norm for us. It was actually part of a plan that we devised and we are both so happy with our new rides.

A Carson Update

Volleyball season ended last night so maybe I'll be able to blog a little more than I have been. I've come to the conclusion that two kids is way harder than one, so I doubt I'll ever blog as much as I used to, but at least I'll have a scrapbook for the boys one day. I thought I'd write a few memories about Carson.

He loves to be in control of his snacks. We put snacks that aren't messy, such as marshmallows, Nilla wafers, and puffed corn, on this little shelf and he helps himself. Lately, he hasn't been eating everything, but I think he likes to know that they are there.

He randomly waves at the air and stares off into space....even when it's dark in a room. It's kind of creepy.

He loves to be held and carried. He follows me around and stands at my feet with his arms up, but then often times wants down as soon as I pick him up.

Lately, he doesn't like his high chair. He whined and cried the other day to get out of his high chair. I finally figured out that he wanted to sit beside Miles at the bar. I had to stand behind him, but he was so happy to sit there and eat his breakfast. On another note, he cannot balance himself on a chair or stool yet.

He is a climber! He tries to climb up on everything. He can get on this chair in my bedroom. Tonight, he climbed in the chair and then covered himself with the blanket. Definitely my child!

He does not like riding in the car. Singing the ABCs does not work anymore. I've started pacifying with food and that does work. Not my favorite solution, but I can't handle the screaming in the car. His scream is unbearably loud. I've had a lot of headaches lately and the two just don't mix. As with the high chair, I'm beginning to think he just doesn't like to be restrained.

He likes to read books. Right now, his favorite is a Little People pop up book. We've moved on from Dear Zoo.

He loves his brother! He lights up when he sees him in the morning or at the end of a day. He's also a daddy's boy at the moment. Darrin and I both picked him up from school the other day and he totally bypassed me to get to Darrin. My mom watched him all day on Wednesday and he was quite attached to her too.

Unrelated to the picture, but he is obsessed with shutting doors. He shuts regular doors, cabinet doors, the refrigerator doors like it's his job.

He is oh so sweet and oh so aggressive at the same time. His personality is hard to describe. He's usually always happy and smiles all the time, but then, he screams and throws things in the same breath. I really think he is just frustrated b/c he can't talk and communicate yet. We've been working on words so the grunting and screaming will stop. I think once he starts he will take off, but he is a little ways from it now. I think the best two words to describe him would be lovable and determined. I wasn't sure a kid could be more determined than Miles, but I believe Carson might give him a run for his money.
