On Tuesday, we went to see Dr Bates for Miles' three year check up. I was excited to see how much he had grown. He weighs 32 lbs (54th percentile) and is 39 inches tall (83rd percentile). I only took my small camera for fear of looking like a crazy mom with the big one...so the pictures aren't the greatest.
On the way to the doctor, I prepared him for a shot. We talked about how it would be a small prick and then it would pinch for just a little while. We have used a delayed/altered vaccination schedule with Miles. When I talked to the nurse about our schedule it turned out that he really wasn't due for one. This was his reaction...
He kept saying that he wanted a prick. Be careful what you ask for....by the time the visit was over, I changed the schedule and he did get one. This was the first time that he was inconsolable after a shot. In the past, he's always gotten over it within seconds. On Tuesday, he was still crying when we got to the car. So, I did what any good mom would do....we went and bought a toy.
He took his action figures to play with while we waited. He lined them up to show Dr Bates, who was appropriately impressed when he came in...
The visit was good. I really didn't have any concerns to discuss. We talked about his terrible sleep issues as of late.....which are primarily due to mine and Darrin's inconsistency. Dr Bates confirmed that was the problem and said that when we've had enough, we just need to draw the line in the sand and not budge. We definitely need to do this but I'm thinking it will have to wait until after volleyball season. Dr Bates said it took him 2 hours every night for 2 months. That just can't happen right now. We are very thankful for our happy, healthy little boy.
