Weekend Wrap Up

Thursday night was an exciting night. Miles got his first varsity start. There were highs and lows...we'll discuss a high. He initiated a triple play! He caught a bunt that popped up, threw it to second to get the runner that had started to third, then the short stop threw it to first to get the runner that had taken off to second. It was very exciting! Hearing his name announced was fun for us too.

I went to eat lunch with Carson on Friday for the first time ever. Visiting the school and eating lunch is not my jam, but it was a major highlight for him. He thanked me several times and hugged me. He made flirty eyes at several girls while I was there. I haven't see that side of him before!

Friday night we traveled an hour to watch Miles' team play. One of his best friends got to pitch so we were happy to cheer him on. We wish Miles would have been able to catch him this year, but that wasn't in the cards.

Saturday was a cold, drizzly day watching Carson play. We bundled up and got through it with one win and one loss.

Carson is easy to watch. He's pretty happy go lucky regardless of how he does. He doesn't like to lose, but moves on quickly. One thing to remember about him at this age is he is pretty honest and usually assesses his play very accurately in a game or practice. He will say he hit well or didn't hit well but it's always matter of fact and then ready to move on.

We had a fan favorite for dinner, chicken fajita nachos.

More cold baseball in the morning watching Carson.

And then it was actually hot by the time he finished.

They finished as champions of the silver bracket.

I think a ring is a ring to the kids at this age.

We sure have been blessed by great friends and teammates for both kids. Some that go to school with him...

And some that don't....

We ran some errands after the games and then went by to show Marmee his ring.

Miles had another hitting lesson. He's ready to put in a lot of work in the off season.

Then Carson got invited to Skyzone with some of his baseball buddies. When they called to ask him to go, he said, "is this a dream??"

He also said he was going to jump on every trampoline in the place. Looks like he made good on his promise.

I planted some pepper plants, a tomato plant, and a few flowers when we got home. Then it was time to get ready for the week and now ready for bed!

Weekend Wrap Up

We kicked off the weekend with baseball on Friday night and then more baseball on Saturday.

After baseball, we were determined to get everyone's mind off of baseball and just have some fun at home.

Carson was very much onboard with this plan especially since it involved cornhole.

Miles and I schooled them 3 games to none. Usually it's just about what Darrin and Miles do when it's there turn to throw, but Carson and I actually contributed to our teams at times.

Everyone was excited for Easter baskets this morning. I had several ideas come to me this year so I was really excited for them to see them.

Carson loved his remote control Tesla truck which was actually a Christmas present that arrived on December 27th. I wasn't sure if he would even care about it, but he thought it was great. He also loved his baseball drip beach towel with his name and the candy. Miles liked his wooden bat and an Alani. They both got more tools for their toolbox too.

Marmee came to our house to go to church with us and brought them more goodies.

Candy and money is a good way to a teenagers' heart.

Carson and his buddy Max sang at church this morning. They agreed to do it together.

Usually Carson knows all the words and motions, but I'm not sure how much they practiced this one :)

We are so fortunate that our moms are friends.

We only had two kids hunting eggs this year. We had to tell Carson to leave some for Everleigh, so he put one in her basket and then picked up another one.

The babies were loving me today and I soaked it all up.

The boys love their Aunt Crystal and she loves them.

I can't remember an Easter with more beautiful weather. We had such a nice day with family. Happy Easter!

More Carson-isms

I looked back at the blog to see the last post I wrote about things Carson says. Turns out he's given me a lot of material over the years! I had several posts about his sayings and how he mixes up words. I keep a list going at all times because I could never remember all the crazy things he says.

When he got out of the shower recently he said "clean as new".

To ask us if we were listening to him, he said, "Are you hear this?"

I asked him to get the door for me the other day and he said, "yes my queen."

This might be one of the funniest things he's ever said. We laugh because he's just like Darrin...he will try any word or phrase out. Miles and I have to be 100% sure that we are using said word or phrase in context, but not Darrin or Carson. Apparently in soccer there is a defensive term call "bagging". The other day in baseball he told Darrin & Miles that he "nut bagged" someone referring to hitting the ball and it going between a kid's legs on the other team :)

When I told him to wash with the white soap in the shower, he said, "I don't have any else soap." (anymore)

Darrin fixed him an egg bowl for breakfast the other day, he said, "I'm not really that kind of guy this morning."

He packed his own snacks for Miles' baseball game a couple weeks ago. When I got to the game Darrin told me to look in his bag and check out what he brought. He had a loose hard boiled egg in the midst of the toys. Later in the night, he stood by the trash can and peeled it.

When talking about possibly going to the doctor about his foot hurting, he said, "there's just so much to talk about and I'm shy at the doctor (he's NOT) and I'm just so stressed."

I can't remember if I've blogged about this before, but he said it again the other day. When you ask him what he wants to be when he grows up he says a dad :) I think he feels that way because of how much he loves Darrin which is pretty awesome.

I slept in one Saturday morning and he told Darrin, "I bet mom is living her best life back there."

And last, not a funny saying, but just the best memory. Carson is oh so funny and witty, and definitely keeps us laughing, but he's also very smart, thoughtful, and extremely loving. He made the best decision to follow Jesus all the days of his life and was baptized on March 16th.

Weekend Wrap Up

Crock pot meals are essential right now with both boys in the middle of baseball seasons. This one was easy and so good. I just put 4 chicken breasts, onions, peppers, and one can of rotel with taco seasoning on each layer. on one side. And then one can of corn with some butter and pepper on the other side. We shredded it and put it over chips with white queso. We will definitely make it again.

Carson and I stayed home from high school baseball on Friday night because he needed a break (and maybe I did too). We watched the game on the computer and the Braves on the TV.

Carson and I played some cards on Saturday morning.

He keeps our score in a composition notebook :)

While we played cards, Darrin took Miles to a hitting lesson. Hitting lessons are a highlight for him especially as a freshman. Freshman life is hard.

Saturday we worked on some flowers before Carson's games.

Miles did some work in between helping us.

Carson had a good cheering section for his games. It was such a pretty day.

We were glad Marmee came with us.

Carson's team went 2-0 on Saturday. They played again on Sunday and won one and then lost in the semifinals. I wasn't able to go because I had to go to a funeral visitation. I always hate to miss the boys' games, but I have to admit that I enjoyed having the house to myself all afternoon. I did laundry, cooked, and did a few things before laying on the couch and watching the Braves!!

We had to try to find some new baseball pants after Carson's game and all he could think about was hitting this dummy. He's been a little out of sorts all weekend. I'm not so sure he isn't a little sick but no fever so we keep going and try to get rest when we can.

My cooking was basically just using up food that was going to go bad.

Carson begged us to sell candy bars for a fundraiser at school. We've never participated, but he was so insistent. His teacher sent me this pic the day he got his box of candy bars and said that he opened them immediately and started selling them. He sold 5 at snack time to his friends :) I told Darrin that maybe he would have a coach and a salesman just like him. He is SO passionate about selling these candy bars!

Between Miles' JV & varsity teams, and Carson's team, we have 10 games and 2 practices this week. So it's unlikely I'll be back until at least next week!
