Weekend Wrap Up
I guess this time of year my weekend wrap ups are going to occur on Monday or Tuesday and they are going to have a gazillion baseball pictures. We didn't get home until 11:45pm on Sunday night, so I spent last night unpacking and doing laundry. I think my allergies are getting the best of me after sitting out at the ball park all weekend, so I haven't felt the greatest at night either.
Saturday, we drove to Kentucky to play baseball. I have always wanted to play in Kentucky so it would be closer to Darrin's family. Carson got his very own Hornet hat this weekend.
Aunt Crystal and Uncle Steve came to watch the first game on Saturday. They brought Miles some good luck at the plate too.
After the first game, we swapped cars and they took Carson home with them since the second game didn't start until after 8pm. Miles and I had pancakes for dinner. He always wants to go with his friends or stay at the field between games. Sometimes I have to put my foot down and force some quality time.
Two games and two wins on Saturday!
We spent the night with Crystal and Steve which was so nice. The three of us slept in the same bed. That is the first time Miles and Carson have ever slept together. Miles was so happy. Carson must have been tired b/c he didn't move all night.
They were cold in the morning, so they found a warm spot by the air vent. It was nice and toasty.
On Sunday morning, we were able to go to church with them and watch our niece, Olivia, lead worship. It was so special to be there. She did a great job. It was so fun to see her do her thing.
Miles went to children's church with our other niece, Ava, and watched her serve on the puppet team. Carson enjoyed the nursery. He amazes me how good he is about walking into new places and not being sad or scared at all. He literally walked in, hopped in a cozy coupe, and smiled at us. I love the way he lives life without inhibition. I'm sure I will need to be reminded one day that this is a gift :)
We went back to the ball field on Sunday afternoon. Carson stayed with Aunt Crystal, Uncle Steve, Olivia, and Ava. He watched a movie and fell asleep with Ava, which I'm sure she loved.
This is our third year with this team. In three years we've only lost and added one kid. Everyone else has stayed. They have formed some strong friendships. It is neat to see on and off the field.
Waiting for the championship game to start. Miles had a great night at catcher. He threw two kids out stealing second and third. That's not easy to do at this age.
Late in the game, he was trying to throw another kid out at third. The batter's bat got in the way and when Miles followed through, he hit his pinky on the bat. This picture doesn't really do it justice. I instantly knew he was hurt. He fell to the ground and started rolling around crying. After some blood and tears, he sucked it up and went back in when it was time to take the field again. We had no subs, so we really needed him. They put him in left field and thankfully nothing came to him.
The game was tied and we had a runner on third when Miles got up to bat. He grounded out but managed to get the winning RBI.
These boys fought hard and walked away as champions.
I think he grew a little over the weekend and gained some toughness. Hopefully he learned that he can make it through tough times and even excel in them!
After the game, we had to drive back and get Carson. Miles was able to take a shower and put on his pjs for the ride home. Aunt Crystal even had a hamburger waiting for him. I was able to put Carson in the car asleep and he slept the home way home, as did Miles. After the two hour drive home, I carried Carson to bed and he slept all night. Darrin's parents were at our house. My father-in-law somehow carried Miles to my bed and he slept until the morning. It made me think of something I saw on FB.
It was a great weekend with family and our baseball friends, especially bringing home a trophy!

13 Random Pics
Since I had not blogged in two weeks before yesterday, I have several pictures to unload. Miles pitched for half of one inning yesterday and he said it was his favorite part of the day.
My handsome lunch date...
Carson is starting to show a few quirks. He really likes wipes. He insisted on getting them at dinner the other night because his hands kept getting dirty.
Miles had to make a hat to go along with a favorite book. I found out about said hat before church and baseball practice. I NEVER do homework or school projects. I usually help about 5% of the total project, but I did 95% of this one while he was at practice. He glued the army men on the top when he got home. It took me less than 10 minutes total. Since it wasn't for a grade and only for fun, I made an exception. He loved it.
I won a Roomba at our chamber banquet the other day. There were hundreds of people there and they drew my little ticket. WOW!
Carson is much better in the car than he used to be, but it's not a walk in the park just yet.
#truth. This is me almost every day.
We bought Typing Instructor for Kids from Amazon recently. I thought Miles would think it was cool to learn how to type correctly, and what a great thing for him to know how to do so early. He loves it! He hasn't had as much time to do it lately, but he really enjoys it and he's already learning. It walks you through different levels and teaches you a few letters at a time. Money well spent.
Cute new haircut and big brown eye...
Miles cleaned out his back pack the other day. He had everything but the kitchen sink in there. We had to use the dust buster when he was finished if that tells you anything.
Brothers...
I carpooled this rowdy crowd home from a birthday party the other night. The party was at a trampoline park, so they were sweaty, smelly, and wound up when they got in the car. So many people help me with rides for Miles, so I was happy to return the favor on a night when I could.
Good friends & teammates. I'm thankful that Miles has this group of friends. I sure do love their parents too.

Weekend Wrap Up
Just a quick recap tonight b/c baseball is upon us and that means we are all ready to fall out when Sunday night rolls around. Darrin had a scrimmage out of town yesterday, so that meant I was solo with the boys.
Miles had two games, relatively close together, and in the middle of the day, so I thought Carson would be okay. It was much cooler than I expected, but the cold doesn't bother him, so he was fine with it.
I loaded up with snacks and toys. He ate most of the snacks during the first game. Between games, when Miles came to get something to eat, he was not happy with all that Carson had eaten. He said, "Carson had a FEAST!" Indeed he did. I was not about rules yesterday. I was about survival.
Brothers that floss together, stay together??
Two games and two wins on Saturday!
I really couldn't have asked for Carson to be any better. He was good on the car ride there. He played and remained cooperative most of the day. Then, he slept most of the way home. It doesn't get better than that.
I totally underestimated the sun yesterday, b/c it was so chilly. I'm sure that happens the first sunny, but cold, weekend every year.
After we got home and showered, we watched a little TV. Carson actually laid his head on Miles. Miles soaked it up.
We all went to church this morning before Darrin and Miles headed back to Mississippi for day 2 of the baseball tournament. Most of the team opted to drive back and both rather than stay b/c we finished at a decent time yesterday and didn't play early this morning. It was an hour and forty-five minute drive one way, so lots of car time. Darrin also had to drive 8+ hours round trip for his scrimmage yesterday, so he is exhausted. This is the best picture I could get of Carson this morning b/c he was fixated on his snack :)
One of the moms had green eye black for the boys today. I thought that was pretty cute for St. Patrick's Day.
Their green brought them luck in the first game, but came up a little short in the championship game. Runner Up in the Shamrock Classic.
I hated to miss today, but I didn't want Carson to have to spend that much time in the car two days in a row. I asked him last night if he wanted to watch baseball again or stay home with mom and he said, "stay home with momma". I was happy to spend the day with him. He took a three hour nap which allowed me to meal prep for the week and do laundry. Ready for the busy week ahead!
