Weekend Wrap Up
I really, really want to blog again, but I am struggling for anything remotely interesting to say. With that in mind, here we go.
I went dark again with my hair yesterday. I did this two years ago and there were only a handful of people that liked it. I said I'd never do it again b/c it's so hard to get blonde again, but I did. My hair was so fried and so blonde...I just needed a change. I kind of like it dark, so I'm going with it for a little while. Everyone always asks if Darrin likes it or not. It's hard to say. He has a pretty good poker face if he doesn't. And, his lock screen on his phone was a pic of me with dark hair long after I went back blonde again last time I think he's ok with it.
It looks much different outside vs. inside...
I don't mean to brag, but this kid is kind of a Lego genius. He did this all by himself. I just had to correct one piece. What about this pose??
Miles scored some more birthday money today at church and told me to surprise him by spending it at Walmart when I went grocery shopping today. How 'bout I surprise you with a preschool workbook? Probably not what he had in mind, but he liked it...until every page wasn't "perfect" and he kept saying he was "so frustrated" which is his new phrase for everything. When we don't let him play in the iPad continuously, he is "so frustrated"....or when we make him take a bath or go to bed, he is "so frustrated with us". Ok, so a preschool workbook is not all I got him. I also got him some action figures for his Bat Cave, which he loved.
This is the smallest volleyball t-shirt that Darrin could get. I tried to get Miles to sleep in it the other night b/c I thought he looked adorable, but he was not having it. He said it didn't fit...it's not pjs...and he didn't have any pants on. Things just go a certain way in his little brain and an over sized t-shirt is not appropriate for bedtime in his mind. He came around about a week later and actually slept in it all night. It was a wild and crazy kind of night for him.
I spent some time this weekend getting ready for a consignment sale. A friend is trying a new sale in Martin this coming weekend. I hope she does great & in turn I do great. I don't have a good venue for getting rid of Miles' old clothes. Hoping this is worth my time. If you live in or around Martin, ask me about the sale!!!
Ok so I said upfront that I really had nothing much to say. Hopefully you are like me, and those are the blogs that you enjoy reading the most. Have a great week!

Happy 4th Birthday Miles Cooper!!!
We've had a great day celebrating Miles' birthday. I LOVE birthdays and couldn't wait to make Miles feel special all day. He woke up very happy....
I gave him three options for treats to take to school....cupcakes, sugar cookies, or dirt pudding with gummy worms. His choice...
I think they were a big hit at school. His teacher said that all the kids were thanking him and he said "you're welcome" to each one of them and then said, "I know you liked it."
He was super excited to wear his birthday shirt to school....
I picked him up early from school and we went to watch volleyball practice for a little while. I left Miles at practice to come home and make dinner. I made all Miles' favorite things...salmon, grilled shrimp, carrots, and broccoli. He was happy...
Leftover birthday cake for dessert....and of course more candles...
Then, it was time for his present. Darrin and I are notorious for giving gifts early but we actually held out this time. It was so worth the wait.
I was surprised at how quickly he took off on it. He drove around and around the house...
And then of course he had to go show Cambry. Unfortunately she wasn't home which did not make him happy.
He just asked if he could put the sheet back over the 4wheeler and open it again :) Apparently the unveiling of his gift was special to him. The day is not over so I'm going to play with the birthday boy. I leave you with his 4th birthday interview...

Miles' 4th Birthday
We celebrated Miles' birthday at Chuck E Cheese on Saturday night. Darrin & I both love Chuck E Cheese, but we've only been there on a week night or Sunday afternoon....never a Saturday. I booked his party online and happened to be by the Chuck E Cheese (an hour away) two weeks ago, so I stopped in to confirm the party....on a Saturday. You can see where this is going. Oh my. It was a zoo in there. Kids everywhere, tickets, buzzers, lights flashing...a crazy house. I came out to the car and told Darrin that we were in for it.
Thankfully, it seemed slightly better during our party. It was still crazy but Miles loved it and the kids seemed to have fun too. Cambry rode with us, which Miles loved...
The party started at 5:30. The kids were each given 20 tokens and got to play for 45 minutes. That was perfect b/c it gave everyone time to arrive.
Some adults got in on the games too...
...and some held down the party fort and watched the Chuck E Cheese show over and over and over...
They all got two pieces of pizza and drinks. We were assigned a party hostess and she was amazing. She set up the table including the party favors I bought. She also filled all the drinks and cut the cake. I think she was the key to sanity during the night.
After pizza it was time for the birthday show. There were four, yes four, birthday parties going on at once. Chuck E Cheese comes out and all the characters dance. The birthday kids are all asked to stand up. He seemed to enjoy being recognized...
I was concerned how he would handle Chuck E Cheese. He's never been a fan of any characters. I even told the hostess that we might need to skip that party. To my surprise, he offered a hug to Chuck E Cheese. If I know my son, he probably didn't want to look silly in front of his friends so he sucked it up and did what he had to do. I was very happy for him...
On another note, all the birthday kids were given a guitar b/c the theme was Rock Star birthday. They were supposed to play and put on a show. He.Was.Not.Having.It. No way. It was written all over his face that he felt ridiculous. I asked him later and he said he was embarrassed. We quickly told him he didn't have to do it and that was the end of that. He did put on a good show for me yesterday in the privacy of our house :)
He was presented a Chuck E Cheese medallion that he loved.
Then, it was time for cake. His birthday party theme was Octonauts...
After the birthday show & cake, some kids played and some hung around for pictures and presents. The sequence of the night was actually very good. I'm hoping everyone else felt the same. They seemed to move quickly from one thing to the next, which is optimum for 4 year olds.
Miles & Colt....Miles is really into posing lately...Must work on more masculine poses :)
Miles got a disc for disc golf from Granny & Pa. Ansley is being a big helper...
Legos from Marmee...
Miles & Ben...
Miles said it was the best party ever!
